The Engineer will carry out tasks which support activities typically related to Phase BC of a space programme in the area of system design engineering and architecture definition. The Engineer will work within the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. TASKS The Engineer will perform system engineering activities such as Justification of the system design including producing and maintaining any relevant analyses and budgets General support to system engineering activities, for example o Documentation of system design and interfaces. o Support to the technical coordination with Partners. o Support to segment level activities and reviews as required. This requires a sound understanding of the impact of instrument and platform characteristics on the geometrical quality of the acquired datasets and groundbased algorithms for a correction or compensation, in particular algorithms related to INR estimation, LineofSight modelling, geolocation, and rectification. The support of prototyping of INR processing algorithms and their subsequent assessment is a significant part of the consultancy. The Data Processing Engineer shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. The Engineer shall also be responsible for the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. The Engineer duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance currently in the launch preparation phase, the analysis and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies, and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Engineer shall be the focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endto end testing of the complete production system. The Engineer duties will also cover the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3.
