Specifically the key person shall have experience in remote sensing data analysis using UVVisible satellite data calibration of level 0 and validation of level 1 satellite data products use of vector radiative transfer models the GOME2 mission and instrument writing concise and comprehensive scientific and technical reports demonstrated skills in a higher programming language working with UNIX andor Linux operating systems specification, design and coding of complex product processors testing and verification of complex data processing systems NICETOHAVE SKILLS CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE the remaining EPS missions and instruments quality control of satellite data and products operational product processing environments knowledge of scripting languages e.g. python, Matlab, IDL, bash knowledge of SQLsoftware build environments and tools e.g. make, imake, eclipse, insure source code control system, e.g. Subversion or CVS. TASKS This consultancy will primarily provide support to the calibration and validation of GOME2 level 1 data products. The main focus of the activity is the calibration and validation of the GOME2 UVVisible radiance and polarisation sensitive data, the evaluation of the longterm degradation signatures in GOME2 data and methods for generation of degradation correction factors, crosscalibration and validation activities both with instruments of a similar class and GOME2 instruments on MetopA and MetopB, and investigation of problems indicated by feedback from level 1 data users. Associated with this activity is the development of prototype software to support the analysis and supporting documentation such as algorithm specifications, test data descriptions and validation reports. The key person will be fully integrated in the Atmospheric Composition Team within the Remote Sensing and Products Division but will also be expected to interface with experts across the client as required. analysis of inflight calibration performance of the GOME2 instruments on MetopA and MetopB evaluation of the applicability of the onground characterisation key data to the inorbit situation of GOME2 including radiometric and polarisation sensitivity key data including angular dependencies analysis of the longterm degradation signatures on GOME2, including from all inflight calibration sources, sun and earthshine data evaluation of methods for generation of degradation factors crosscalibration and validation of level 1 radiance and polarisation data both with instruments of a similar class and GOME2 instruments on MetopA and MetopB development of software for the purposes of analysing the inflight calibration performance and longterm degradation performance of the GOME2 instrument investigation of problems indicated by feedback from level 1 users development of software for crosscalibration and validation activities testing and validation the algorithms and analysis procedures developed provision of support for longterm instrument monitoring and implementation and validation of the any proposed inorbit corrections within the operational processing environment interfacing with experts across the client as needed collaboration with expert groups and the wider scientific community outside as appropriate For more Details please feel free to contact Ms. Bianca Brankers Corporate Recruiter

Mission The Consultant will carry out tasks which support activities related to initially Phase B followed by phases CD of the EPSSG Programme in the area of ground segment engineering. In this context attention is drawn to the mandatory nature of the programme. In the detail, support will be provided for the following tasks Support to the definition of data processing concepts and their implications on Ground Segment interfaces and architecture, analysis of requirements and constraints imposed on Ground Segment data processing elements, including their impact and criticality, specification and maintenance of Ground Segment and lower level requirements in DOORS with associated traceability and verification methods, including the development of testing concepts and test scenarios, and justification of requirements to be documented in the Ground Segment Design Justification File Maintenance of the functional and architectural model of Ground Segment data processing elements with the selected Model Based System Engineering MBSE methodology and contribution to the Ground Segment preliminary design definition to be documented in the Ground Segment Architectural Design Document and contribution to the Ground Segment Integration, Verification and Validation IVV approach definition for data processing elements, and specification of Interface Requirements Documents IRDs Performance of tradeoffs to assess effectiveness, risks and costs of alternative architectural and technical solutions in the area of data processing and support to the compilation and maintenance of data processing engineering budgets such as data and products volumes, products generation timeliness Support to the procurement of Ground Segment data processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the contractor and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements, along with support to testing, integration and acceptance of Ground Segment data processing elements by reviewing testing documentation, managing procurement of test data where appropriate and evaluating coherence and adequacy of integration and system level tests. Support to anomaly maintenance and evolutions For maintenance, characterisation of system component behaviour against required performance, maintenance of a systematic overview of anomaly contexts, and proposal and implementation of system alterations including component modification to achieve required performance for evolutions, conceptual design, requirements specification, functional modelling, system analysis, and concept development to support increased performance, rationalisation of components, and cost reduction, along with monitoring and supporting the implementation of evolutions, and documenting the resulting revised relationships between component clusters, functional models, and requirements. Profile In addition to having a University degree in the engineering domain or equivalent the key persons shall have the following mandatory skills and experience At least 3 years of experience in engineering of Ground Segment data processing elements for Earth Observation missions, including requirements specification, definition of interfaces, architecture and testing concepts At least 3 years of direct involvement in specification, design, development andor procurement of at least two of the following Ground Segment elements Processing infrastructure for Level 1 and Level 2 data processing Level 1 instrument data processors Frontend and L0 processing Fluency in English oral and written is mandatory. Mission The Key Person will be part of the HSIRL2 team. This team is responsible for the scientific development, maintenance, validation and routine monitoring of hyperspectral infrared atmospheric sounding products in support of the development and operations of EUMETSATs geostationary and polar orbiting systems. The Key Person shall contribute to the continued improvement of current operational and prototype products, considering opportunities and new requirements from the user community. Heshe shall support the implementation, the evaluation and the monitoring of these algorithms. The Key Person shall have at least 3 years of experience in the field of scientific computing. Mission Carrying out activities covering the networking aspects in the ground segments associated with EPSSG will include performing the following tasks, which will initially focus on the needs of the EPSSG Preparatory Programme but nominally cover the entire development lifecycle Specification of an EPSSG ground segment network concept incl. purposescope definition, high level network system architecture and design, highlevel network testing and rollout strategy. Specification of EPSSG ground segment network requirements. Requirements identification, analysis, validation and maintenance e.g. extraction of required data flows and specification of their characteristics. Assist to the definition of EPSSG ground segment network interfaces. From the EPSSG ground segment network requirements, specification of derived requirements for the evolution and upgrade of operations network infrastructure and services. Establishing the overall EPSSG ground segment network solution, incl. specification of the network integration, verification and testing approach. Identification of areas of risk and contribution to related tradeoff studies or prototyping activities. Participate in and provide support the EPSSG ground segment reviews, e.g. Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review. Participate in evaluation and comparison of offers for network services and systems, contribute to supplier negotiations. Contribute to procurement of the overall EPSSG ground segment in areas related to networking, e.g. requirements specifications and statements of work. Participate in EPSSG meetings at system, ground segment and facility level. Profile In addition to having a university degree or equivalent, the key person shall have at least 5 years of proven knowledge and handson experience in the following mandatory skills area Preparation of network system requirements and design specifications. Understanding of the use cases and needs on networking imposed by satellite ground segment environments, experience of translating these to requirements on network infrastructure, functions and systems. Satellite ground segment network solution engineering throughout its lifecycle, from identification of needs to deployment, with a focus on Cisco technology and solutions. Working in and applying the above skills in highavailability, alwayson production environments, driven by high availability requirements. Interacting with suppliers of network products and services. Supporting procurements of network services. For supporting documentation tasks, experience is required with Microsoft Office Suite, including MSVisio.
