For our activities at EUMETSAT, we are looking for a Ground Segment Engineer for the Sentinel3 mission. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission to support services relating to the marine and global land environment, with capability to serve further atmospheric and cryosphericbased application areas. The objectives of the Sentinel3 mission encompass the commitment to consistent, longterm collection of remotely sensed marine and land data, of uniform quality, for operational ocean state analysis, forecasting and service provision, in the context of the Copernicus Services as set up by the European Commission. Tasks The Ground Segment Engineer GSE shall support the development and maintenance of the S3 ground segment by providing support to the AIV activities during the integration of the S3 ground Segment and by coordinating the verification of the new systems and its interfaces into the Operational infrastructure. The GSE shall also maintain an uptodate set of design documents and Interface Control Documents for the operational systems and shall perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification for evolutions or major upgrades of the S3 ground segment. Qualifications and Requirements A University degree or equivalent plus 8 to 10 years of experience A minimum of 5 year experience in the following mandatory areas Development and maintenance of complex operational ground systems, preferably in the area of 247 operational remote sensing satellites Experience of ground segments which are designed and developed taking advantage by the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System and Interfaces EngineeringAIT experience for the development of major upgradesnew ground systems in a 247 operational environment. Good knowledge of at least 2 of the following domains and an overview of the others will also be a distinct advantage Networking Communications Satellite Monitoring and Control systems Data dissemination and archiving Near RealTime Data Processing. For our activities at DLR, we are looking for a Ground Segment Operations Engineer for monitoring and controlling the overall preparation of the ground segment and execution of the Galileo operations activities. The engineer will support the activities of the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit HSOOGC in the coordinating of the definition, deployment, validation, and operation of the Galileo Ground Control infrastructure, as required to meet the overall Galileo service needs. The Ground Control Segment GCS infrastructure is deployed and operated mainly in the Galileo Control Centre GCC in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany and Fucino as backup. In addition GCS elements are deployed at the LEOP centres Darmstadt, Toulouse. Remote elements, like the five SBand TTCF stations, are deployed around the globe. Tasks The engineer will work in the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit in particular the ESA Control Segment Operations Engineer at GCCD, covering the following tasks Monitoring the activities of the Operations Service provider on its operations and maintenance activities of the Galileo Control Segment in the GCCs and the remote sites Followup the development, integration, verification and operational validation of the Galileo Ground Control segment within the context of the overall Galileo system Support the development of requirements for evolution of the Galileo Control Segment to improve operability Support the procurement process for the Operations Service Provider for the Ground Control Segment maintenance and operations aspects, and monitor their implementation Support and coordinate the interaction between the Operations and the Ground Control Segment providers, ensuring the coherency of the maintenance and operations concept for the Control Segment, at system, segment and element level Participation on Galileo related Anomaly Review Boards, Change Control Boards, reviews panels, as required. Based at Oberpfaffenhofen D, the work will require regular travelling to ESOC, ESTEC, Fucino IT and other European sites. Qualifications and Requirements Essential University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering Significant experience of senior engineering activities in ground control of similarly complex computer infrastructure deployed for space operation related activities Proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment Knowledge of satellite andor ground operations Experience in working in an operational environment Good knowledge of satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Knowledge of operational simulators, ideally SimSat Good knowledge of operations preparation activities, ideally through the use of MOIS Knowledge of mission planning tools Ability to conduct and control meetings in the English language Security Clearance the engineer will be required to hold a Galileo Security Clearance to the level of Secret. Desirable Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV Experience in a commercialindustrial environment Familiarity of the principals of configuration management and control Familiarity with Quality Management Systems QMS Experience with the Galileo Mission GIOVEB IOV Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with effective teamwork principles Able to work independently Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems. Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV would be considered advantageous.
