Mission In the role of support to the development of MTG ground segment, the tasks of the Key person shall include Analysis of the MTG requirements on the MultiMission Elements specifically to Monitoring, Analysis Reporting and contribute to the definition of the design specification for the MultiMission Elements Management of programmes Requirementsrequirement justification and generation of elements requirements Maintenance of GS Facilities to MME Monitoring ICDs Definition of the system architecture and interfaces between the MultiMission Elements specifically Monitoring, Analysis Reporting and the other elements of the MTG ground segment Performing engineering budgets and analyse impacts of changes in the MultiMission Elements on the MTG ground segment architecture and interfaces Contribution to the generation of System Design Documents and Interface Control Documents Support to the definition of the AIV approach for the MultiMission Elements, including the generation of Test Plan and Test Procedures Participation to Programme projects reviews PDR, CDR, etc... Support MultiMission Elements Upgrade for other future programmes Promoting and ensuring the implementation of the maintainability requirements and standards defined by OPS for the future programmes Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have at least five years experience in the following areas Full development cycle of systems, from the definition of requirements to system design and testing Maintenance of operational ground systems, preferably for remote sensing spacecrafts System Engineering AIT experience for the development of major upgrades new ground systems in a 247 operational environment Ground Segment Monitoring and Control systems Analysis and Reporting System architectural design with the support of modelling and design tools e.g. Enterprise Architect Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. Proven knowledge and experience in at least two of the following missions ground segment areas are mandatory Satellite Monitoring and Control Nearrealtime data processing Archive systems Nearreal time data dissemination. Furthermore, experience on the following areas will be considered an advantage Configuration Control processes and tools Familiarity with the ECSS standards. Ground Segment Operations Engineer Galileo mf The Mission Galileo is Europes global navigation satellite system, which will provide a highly accurate global positioning service under civilian control. The Galileo system is currently being brought into operation, with the constellation of orbiting satellites being established in the coming months. The Challenge We are looking for a senior Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support, as a contracted employee of Terma, the Galileo Project of the European Space Agency in monitoring and controlling the overall preparation of the ground segment and execution of the Galileo operations activities. The role will support the activities of the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit HSOOGC in the coordinating of the definition, deployment, validation, and operation of the Galileo Ground Control infrastructure, as required to meet the overall Galileo service needs. The Ground Control Segment infrastructure is deployed and operated mainly in the Galileo Control Centre GCC in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany and Fucino Italy as backup. In addition GCS elements are deployed at the LEOP centres Darmstadt, Toulouse. Remote elements, like the five SBand TTCF stations, are deployed around the globe. Support will be provided to the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit, and specifically to the ESA Control Segment Operations Engineer at GCCD, covering the following tasks Monitoring the activities of the Operations Service provider on its operations and maintenance activities of the Galileo Control Segment in the GCCs and the remote sites Followup the development, integration, verification and operational validation of the Galileo Ground Control segment within the context of the overall Galileo system Support the development of requirements for evolution of the Galileo Control Segment to improve operability Support the procurement process for the Operations Service Provider for the Ground Control Segment maintenance and operations aspects, and monitor their implementation Support and coordinate the interaction between the Operations and the Ground Control Segment providers, ensuring the coherency of the maintenance and operations concept for the Control Segment, at system, segment and element level Participation on Galileo related Anomaly Review Boards, Change Control Boards, reviews panels, as required. The position will be based at the customers site at Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich D, and will also require frequent travel to ESOC, ESTEC, Fucino IT and other European sites. This is a full time position, starting beginning of June 2014, with a minimum of 3 years duration. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have an university degree, preferably in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering or other suitable qualification together with significant experience of senior engineering activities in ground control of similarly complex computer infrastructure deployed for space operation related activities. A proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment is required. Security requirements The candidate must be eligible to qualify for a Galileo Security Clearance to the level of Secret. Essential skills are Knowledge of satellite andor ground operations Fluent written and spoken English and ability to conduct and control meetings in the English language Experience in working in an operational environment Good knowledge of satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Knowledge of operational simulators, ideally based on SimSat Good knowledge of operations preparation activities, ideally through the use of MOIS Knowledge of mission planning tools Security Clearance Desirable skills are Experience in a commercialindustrial environment Familiarity of the principals of configuration management and control Familiarity with the ESA Quality Management Systems QMS Experience with the Galileo Mission GIOVEB IOV Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with effective teamwork principles Able to work independently Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems The position requires a great deal of independence and selfmotivation.
