Description of the job Due to organic growth and new projects, we are looking for a Guidance Navigation and Control GNC Robotics team leader within Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. You will be joining the AOCSGNC Flight Dynamics department and looking after a small team of approx. 10 Engineers. The department provides the AOCSGNC engineering design, analysis and support to a number of large European Space Agency ESA and UK projects being conducted at Airbus DS in Stevenage, including Solar Orbiter observing the Suns heliosphere and solar wind and ExoMars Rover a mission to land and operate an autonomous rover vehicle on Mars. The department also leads a number of technology RD and future mission studies both internal and external in the areas of advanced GNC and Robotics. As the Team Leader, you will work closely with the Head of the Department and will contribute to the successful On Quality On Time On Cost OQOTOC GNC Robotics activities encompassing all spacecraft lifecycle RD, Phase AB1, Phase B2CD. This role comes with travel a couple of times a year. Tasks accountabilities People management Communication Responsible to flow down information from higher management. Facilitate communication within the team e.g. via regular team get together and across other teams. Coach and Develop Understand peoples aspiration. Foster technical and professional development of the team. Manage goals, organise and carry out appraisals, ensure everyone receives regular feedback. Recruitment together with HoD identify need for Personnel, and raise Request for Personnel, organise interviews, and key stakeholders in selection process. Business needs together with HoD Understand and collect business needs, get feedback from managers e.g. via meetings with Project managers, Engineering managers, or Functional Avionics lead. RD and strategic plans together with HoD the team leader actively contributes to the RD and strategic plans, in order to prepare future internal and external RDT activities. The team leader liaises with the RD coordinator to support proposal work execution. Area managers support Support Work Area Managers from the team in updating costschedule but also Risks and Opportunities. Attend to costschedule meetings with Project. Workload together with HoD Support HoD in workload estimation and allocation of tasks. Tasks support Support individuals in task execution coaching. When relevant, ensure link with process owners and focal points for the discipline. Foster reuse. Support transnational organisation Ensure link with other teams in Transnational organisation is established. Contribute to transnational workshops when required. Quality and Process ReviewAdherence Act as gatekeeper for output quality and support Process and Product ownersFocal points in ensuring process adherence and product policy application on projects. Support Process and Product Owners and Focal points for the discipline. Staying aware of process evolutions and participate in process reviews when needed. Description of the job Airbus Defence and Space are looking for a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader within the MDO Mechanical Design Office with particular focus on Propulsion and Thermal Finishes mechanical design. As a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader you will be responsible for a team of 820 CATIA Design Engineers, this includes Daytoday activities to ensure the completion of engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Provide Team Leader support to develop the team to comply with their objectives including timesheets, Personal Development reviews, HR topics, skills training developmental needs. This role will may require European travel on a quarterly cycle. Tasks accountabilities Ensure the completion of detailed engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Process owner and definition of processes for MDO activities within the propulsion and thermal finishes area, principally using CATIA V5 and 3Dexperience V6, in conjunction with related PDM and ERP software and systems including 3DCom, VPM , Delmia, Windchill etc. Define and implement metrics aiming to demonstrate positive trends while working to improve performance and productivity. Ensure a regular reporting toward line management in all domains problem areas, cost expenses, schedule achievements, efficiency improvement, risk mitigation . Ensure the work package commitments within the team are demonstrated through a managed EAC Estimate at Completion. Responsible for the workload headcount balancing over the MTP Mid Term Plan period and for the staff development in line with management directives. The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. The ICT Department proactively contributes to the fulfilment of the Agencys mission, particularly regarding all matters related to the management of the information and communication systems. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The ICT Operations Team Leader will be actively involved in all ICT operational activities. Heshe will have the following nonexhaustive list of tasks and responsibilities 1. Management of the ICT Operation team Coordinate, supervise and lead the team of ICT Operations in order to provide effective and efficient operation of the GSA infrastructure 2nd level and 3rd level Plan human resources allocation for the daily operation and ICT infrastructure projects Manage contractors, monitor the subcontracted activities and review deliverables Ensure full coordination with other ICT teams Develop work procedures, job objectives and infrastructure projects evaluations together with high focus on the service availability based on SLAs and measured by KPIs Ensure implementation and continuous improvements of the ICT processes following ITIL standards 2. MTGS Spacecraft Operations Team Leader

Reporting to the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Manager in the Flight Operations Division, the MTGS Spacecraft Operations Team Leader will first lead the spacecraft operations preparation for Meteosat Third Generation MTGS sounding satellites, working in close coordination and sharing resources with the MTGI imaging satellite Spacecraft Operations Team Leader. After the launch, heshe will lead MTGS flight operations and support coordination with flight operations of other Meteosat satellites. DUTIES Lead the MTGS spacecraft operations preparations activities, including Production of all relevant plans, procedures and manuals regarding system verification validation, operations, rehearsals, training, etc. Review and acceptance of MTGS flight operations plans manuals Validation of MTGS operational databases and generation and validation of MTGS flight operations procedures Support to MTGS satellitesystem and ground segment validation testing Participate in the specification, development or procurement, followup, verification and validation for all the tools necessary to complete the operational validation of both types of MTG satellites and the MTG system and ground segment Support the MTG development programme on all matters relevant to operations preparation for the MTGS mission, including implementation and validation of the system operations concepts, and, as required, liaison with ESA, the satellite prime contractor, the LEOP and commissioning teams Support the integration and the exchange of technical information between the MTG development programme and the Flight Operations Division for the various MTGS flight control ground segment facilities e.g. Satellite simulator, Mission Control system, Multi mission facilities for planning, monitoring and performance analysis Support the Meteosat Operations Manager in the preparations of relevant operations teams for readiness for MTGS launch, commissioning and operations, and in coordinating the phasein of the MTGS mission with ongoing Meteosat routine operations Lead flight operations of MTGS satellites, and support coordination with flight operations of other Meteosat Second and Third Generation satellites Deputise for the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Manager as required. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Significant experience in spacecraft operations andor operations preparations, at coordinationteamleader level, preferably in an international environment. Knowledge of system engineering standards and methodologies relevant to operations of space systems Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is necessary Routine operations of geostationary satellites Preparation of operations of a complex satellite system, preferably an Earth observation satellite system Spacecraft design and assembly, integration and test LEOP and Commissioning Operations Knowledge of Satellite system design and Monitoring Control principles Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the implications for future routine operations of decisions taken during the development phase Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams Experience of project or team or technical coordinationmanagement Ability to understand and synthesise complex issues, to express ideas and issues clearly i.e. analysis, synthesis and presentation skills. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable based on skills and experience.
