Team Leader, Ground Operations EU Ref SES0597 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Ground Terrestrial Operations Position Staff Published 20150518 Context The incumbent will report to the General Manager of Ground Operations EU and will be primarily responsible for Leading a maintenance team responsible for the Betzdorf and Redu Satellite Teleports, but also maintain our assets in Third Party teleports in the UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, Australia and Asia. This involves systems used with Satellite communications including the teleport IF and RF infrastructures, uplink, downlink and antenna systems. Our services include satellite control, Video, Data, Mobility and Government. Some travel will be necessary to remote locations. Responsibilities To Lead a multinational team Responsible to plan maintenance activities carefully to minimise downtime Problem solving be logical and methodical in braking down problems Firefighting Clear headed approach to quickly resolve issues in the shortest possible time Priority setting for the team this requires a full understanding of the customeroperations To use SAP for finance and fault ticketing Design upgrades and engineering changes to improve operational efficiency Supervise work with the engineering teams for on site installation and integration works including audits and operational handovers To review staff performance and development plans using HR provided tools. Experience Qualifications Must be qualified in Electronics or telecommunications and have DiplomaDegree, Bachelor of Science 10 years of experience in Satellite communications Must be able to lead a Technical team of specialists, to drive and motivate the team Must have good communication skills to provide reports to management Some programming knowledge in HTML, SQL, C, PHP, plus a good knowledge of Windows and Linux would be advantageous An advanced knowledge of Cortex basebands and DTR An advanced knowledge of antenna tracking and servo systems, Monopulse, Steptrack and Program Tack Experience in Launch and Early Operations Phase LEOP missions Experience in In Orbit Testing IOT NATO security clearance would be an advantage. Optical Systems Team Leader

The Optical Team seeks a dynamic, organised and proactive engineer with high standards and technical capabilities to lead the development and delivery of the next generation of our clients spacecraft optical instruments. This is a permanent role based in the UK for a leading space satellite company. Key Tasks Development of spaceborne optical systems within a multidisciplinary team performing optical instrument system design, being the technical point of contact for the relevant optical systems. Design and development of optical systems from concept through to manufacture, system integration and verification. Management of new optical solutions including the programmatic and technical aspects of work packages relevant to area of expertise. Define and own technical requirements specifications for optical payload systems, including trade analysis of these requirements working closely with the spacecraft system engineer to identify derived requirements Development planning, budget and schedule management Ownership of risk registers and appropriate mitigation as agreed with the project manager The ability to pragmatically review and critique optical systems for application in space, balancing technical requirements with programmatic and budget constraints Support to and ownership of, but not limited to the following o Optical system architecture definition. o Optical design. o Performance evaluation and testing. o Subsystem and component specification definition. o Subsystem and component manufacture oversight. o Optical system alignment and testing. Person Specification Qualifications BSc in Optics, Physics or engineering ideally with 3 years of related practical optical or spacecraft experience. Experience Comprehensive knowledge of Optical Engineering, applied to space applications, coupled with a working knowledge of other engineering disciplines e.g. electronics, electrooptical device physics and optomechanics. Knowledge and experience of other spacecraft systems would be an advantage. The candidate should have basic optomechanical knowledge to aid in optical system development. Knowledge in materials and component selection, in the space domain. End to end Optical Engineering knowledge and experience including. Requirements engineering and Tradeoffs. Electrooptomechanical Design and Analysis. Integration of Optical Systems preferably including Space Systems. Validation and Verification, including testing. Knowledge and Skills Optical design experience with proficiency in Zemax is desirable. Design software knowledge, such as stray light analysis software e.g. FRED, SolidWorks, Ansys and Matlab. Selfmotivated, creative, high attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously or within project teams managing their own work and work of others. Ability to work under pressure in an organised and responsive manner. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Knowledge of spacecraft systems design would be an advantage including materials. Good Microsoft Office Skills. Knowledge of Quality Management mechanisms.

Design, develop, and test software in accordance with established standards. Participate in peerreviews of solution designs and related code. Package and support deployment of releases. Analyse and resolve technical and application problems. Adhere to highquality development principles while delivering solutions ontime and onbudget. The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of team leading within a complex software development. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Proven experience in Software Development ideally in a MissionSafety Critical environment Experience in Modelling Software Architecture and Design Software Team leading experience Experience in Software Verification Linux, CC, UMLSysML Good customer facing abilities and experience working with the European Space Agency ESA, System Prime and Subcontractors. Desirable Requirements Vxworks, PPC, UBOOT boot loader Understanding of DO 278 assurance levels AL 3.
