Clouds and Aerosols Competence Area Manager

Could you manage a team of scientists undertaking development, maintenance and validation activities across the Clouds and Aerosols competence area? The role We are seeking an experienced remote sensing expert to lead and coordinate our team of enthusiastic scientists, all experts in their own disciplines within a competence area, covering cloud and lightning detection, cloud physicooptical properties, cloud analysis and other atmospheric products derived from visible and infrared imagery. You will manage the Clouds and Aerosols Competence Area and its resources, including the development of the scientific knowledge, focussing on EUMETSATs next generation satellite systems Meteosat Third Generation MTG and EPSSecond Generation EPSSG and the Copernicus missions. In this role you will have the chance to interact with user communities, analysing their feedback on current products and potential new requirements. You will also support the Satellite Application Facilities SAFs involved in the extraction of clouds and aerosols products. You will have experience of managing external service providers in providing real time data servicessystems. You will lead a team of operations engineers and analysts, managing the ground stations and network infrastructure supporting our Meteosat, EPS, Jason and Sentinel3 missions. This is an opportunity not only to work on current missions, but to coordinate the medium and long term planning of our ground stations and Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding TTC services, also participating in preparation activities for future satellite systems. You will be a Bid Manager working in an international environment in the context of a highly motivated sales team. You will be an integral part of the Companys success by managing various bids of different levels of complexity, values and for different customers. ResponsibilitiesDuties Initially the role will be to support the Bid Management Team by Analysing customer documentation and planning bids accordingly Coordinating internal and partnersubcontractor bid inputs Ensuring that proposals are compliant with customer and Telespazio VEGA requirements Preparing proposal graphics MS Visio e.g. flowcharts, diagrams Reviewing, preparing and formatting proposals documents Ensure deadlines are met for bid submissions. These responsibilities will quickly be enhanced to take overall responsibility, coordinate the writing and production of bids and quotations on behalf of Business Development Managers. This involves leading temporary teams including staff from partner companies and subcontractors to produce winning proposals, and often managing multiple bids simultaneously. This role requires extensive interaction with sales and technical staff, as well as other support functions both within Telespazio VEGA and partner companies and subcontractors. QualificationsExperience University degree or equivalent. Relevant experience in reviewing, writing, editing, producing and interpreting large commercial document. Experience of a coordination role at high level within an office environment. APMP Foundation Level Certification desirable, not essential. Essential Skills Fluent English and German speaking and writing skills. Meticulous attention to detail and an appreciation of process and quality. Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload with strict deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Selfmotivated and able to work with minimum supervision. Advanced MS Word skills, experience of MS Visio and MS Project would be an advantage.
