Bayer strategy head Baumann set to be named CEO: Manager Magazine

Long seen as heir apparent to Chief Executive Marijn Dekkers, Baumann will take over in early 2017, and the move is set to be announced on Feb. 25, when full-year results are due to be published, the magazine said, citing company sources. CEO Dekkers has said he would step down at the end of 2016 and that it will be up to the supervisory board to pick a successor.

Research FellowSatellite Mission Operation Centre Manager Department of Electrical Electronic Engineering Guildford 30,738 to 37,768 Fixed Term 2 year Full Time Ref 005416 The Surrey Space Centre SSC, part of the Department of Electronic Engineering, is a worldclass institution for space research. The successful candidate will join one of the largest space systems groups in Europe and who will be responsible in managing the SSC Ground Station. The SSC groundstation is a distributed, Linuxbased system that uses Python scripts to connect a central computer controller to several software and hardware peripherals. The candidate should continue the work done by previous developers to support research, produce a robust and automated system that is able to activate and control these peripherals on an ondemand basis according to an automated schedule but able to be interrupted or modified by a human operator. This is a 24 month contract. The candidate should have experience or be familiar with Python and PyQT GUI programming Socket programming, RPC RF basics such as antennas, power amplifiers and filtering including link budget analysis, RF system measurements noise, power, VSWR etc. Hardware interfacing especially legacy serial port handling and knowledge of using APIs in software development. Linux programming, especially Bash scripting and automation SQL databases, data management. Communications theory and softwaredefined radio design especially GnuRadio and internet security experience is an advantage. DUTIES After an initial period of training and familiarisation within the PAS Department, the first assignment will be as integrated support to the HRE Quality and Safety Office HREQ to whom the postholder will report for projectspecific responsibilities and duties. For maintaining professional standards, implementing ESAs general PAS policy and contributing to corporate tasks e.g. review standardising, alerts, lessons learned, the postholder will report to the Head of Department TECQ. Support will be provided to the Utilisation Infrastructure and PayloadsExperiment Development Division HREPI, to the NonISS Payloads and Platforms Division HREUN and to other HRE divisions as deemed necessary by the head of the HRE PAS Office HREQ. For performing these tasks, support will be provided by experts from DTEC. As general responsibilities, the postholder will support the following maintaining the HRE QMS conducting internal and external HREQ audits providing Qualityrelated training collecting and reviewing lessons learned participating in periodic meetings with the parent department and contributing to the transfer of technology knowledge and lessons learned across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or technical sciences together with several years experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance, preferably in the aerospace domain. Experience with the application of industrial PA tools is required. Knowledge of configuration management or security management would be an additional asset, as would be a quality auditor or assessor certification. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should additionally have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language.
