Tasks The Corporate ICT function refers to the Information and Communication Technology systems, services and infrastructure, which are employed by EUMETSAT for support of its administrative activities. This environment is distinct from the one used for the operation of satellites or distribution of data products. The ICT User Support Engineer will report to the Service Desk Manager and work according to the teams agreed service levels, defined working practices and procedures. The ICT User Support Engineer will have as a minimum the following responsibilities Installconfigureadministrate desktop and notebook systems hardware and operating system MS Windows installconfigureadministrate standard corporate office applications maintain, administer and support remote access devices e.g. iPhones, VPN tokens administer user accounts, manage user permissions provide first and second level user and technical support, particularly in the area of standard desktop applications Windows 7, MS Office , Visio, etc contribute to the preparation of IT Information on the Intranet and Training Material including presentations viewgraphs, demonstrations and online training as well as provide coaching and training to IT Users Act as an interface between 1st level support and the 2nd level engineers responsible for the backend systems. Provide support to upgrade and enhancement Projects Plan and perform rollouts of new Software Provide support to VIP users Provide support for WebEx and Videoconferences Essential requirements The IT User and Technical Support Consultant is required to have as a minimum Customer focus and service orientation as well as highly effective interpersonal skills in dealing with demanding customers under high workload Extensive knowledge of and experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of MS Windows 7, MS Office, Visio, MS Project and Internet Explorer Experience in the installation and maintenance of mobile computing solutions e.g. VPN access, Notebooks, Remote Access, iPhones, WebEx Extensive experience in end user support in general. Experience in performing user administration in MS Active Directory Knowledge of Outlook configuration and administration and troubleshooting in an MS exchange environment Desirable requirements In addition, the following knowledge shall be considered an advantage Experience in hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting desktop PC, notebooks, network printers, scanners Experience in a structured, ISO 9000 certified andor ITIL based information technology Service environment Professional certification as MCP Windows 7 or any other professional certifications e.g. MCP MS Office, etc. Experience in using software distribution systems e.g. Novell ZENworks, MS SCCM Experience in providing support for Document Management Software Experience in providing 1st level support for SAP Other Information Start date is 15th April 2016. Tasks Following on from the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, the development of the Meteosat Third Generation MTG will ensure continuity to provide information for operational services beyond 2040. To cover the wide range of products needed for weather and climate applications on the user side, MTG comprises two types of satellites four MTGI imaging and two MTGS sounding satellites. The first MTGI satellite is expected to be launched towards the end of 2019. The Consultant shall support the MTG user preparation activities through coordination of the MTG User Preparation Project. Additionally, they will support some of the user engagement activities identified in this Project. The consultant will be part of the User Support Team and will work with experts across EUMETSAT and partners organisations. The main tasks of the consultant, within the coordination role, are Maintain the MTG User Preparation Project plan and associated documentation and schedule related activities Collect and collate project inputs from all internal stakeholders, in particular those parts of the Remote Sensing and Products RSP Division providing the scientific development support for the MTG Programme and the teams within the Geostationary Programme Division GEO responsible for providing the operational Level 1 and Level 2 processors Arrange and attend regular MTG User Preparation Project team meetings and prepare meeting reports as required Record and monitor any open actions associated with the MTG User Preparation Project Prepare inputs to management reports on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project Keep abreast of guidelines issued by the WMO regarding user readiness activities for next generation satellites and prepare inputs and followup actions as required. The main tasks of the consultant, within the supporting preparation activities, are Support external coordination and user engagement activities for MTG user preparation, e.g. supporting RSP workshops, preparing and collating results from user surveys, etc. Support the Web Content Developers in the preparation of content for the MTG user information area on the EUMETSAT website Support the Training Team with updated information on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project for inclusion in training events. Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree in relevant discipline, preferably in remote sensing, meteorology or environmental sciences, the Consultant shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in the following areas Proven experience in project coordination or a project management role An ability to relate to user groups of remotely sensed data and products Experience in remote sensing related to meteorological observation needs Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Experience in preparing and maintaining information for users Experience in using project planning tools like MS Project or similar Experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries. Desirable requirements Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with Supporting previous user preparation activities in the Earth Observation arena Working with the meteorological user community, in particular national weather services Appreciation of the whole processing chain from satellite data sensing to use of a product.
