Performing common materials analysis investigations like microscopic spectroscopic analysis after space simulation. Performing surface and near surface sensitive characterisation of materials after space environmental simulation. This requires the operation of state of the art instruments like Raman, ESCA, NMR and ESR facilities. Improving test procedures and ensuring that these are executed correctly. Design and perform nonstandard tests to meet special space project requirements as well as develop in situ analysis techniques. Traceability of test exposure conditions and follows the effect of the exposure on samples. Recording sample properties or condition during and after test, accurately and legibly. Checking on test equipment performance and reporting any anomalies or faults. Producing clear and professional reports in English as specified for the task. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Technician level in Materials Technology with demonstrated laboratory work experience. Materials science with a good working knowledge of materials process technology, a good understanding of physics and minimal two years of practical experience in a controlled test environment. Client and Location We are currently looking for candidates to lend support in the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management onsite at ESTEC in the Mechanisms Engineering Department. You will lend support to Agency projects, technology research activities and evaluations of industrial contractors documentation and test verifications. Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate shall have the following tasks and responsibilities Fluid Structures, Vibroacoustic and Shock Modelling and Analysis You shall be responsible for the generation and setup of dynamic mathematical models for fluidstructure interaction effects, vibroacoustic and shock response for spacecraft, launchers and instruments of Agency funded projects using the Finite Element, the Boundary Element, and the Statistical Energy Analysis method where applicable, taking into account the specific objectives of such analyses for incompressible and compressible fluids. The above shall include but not be limited to tanks with without membranes, solar arrays, spacecraft subsystem and system models. Shall further perform the dynamic analysis modes, frequency transient acoustic responses shock responses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps. Shall take into account the specific objectives of such analyses and where necessary nonlinear approaches shall be considered and specific solution sequences shall be developed. Shall support the Agency in the definition and implementation of technology developments in this area aiming at enhancing relevant tools and methodologies. Dynamic Test Data Analysis and Correlation You shall be responsible for the support to the Agency in operating analysis tools for the analysis of dynamic test data modal survey, frequency transient responses, shock responses for spacecraft launchers of Agency funded projects and comparison with analytical predictions. Shall further perform where relevant modal identification of the test data, evaluate critically the results and make usage of these results for updating structural finite element models. Shall perform where relevant, assessment of shock response data. Shall take into account the specific objectives of such analyses and where necessary nonlinear approaches shall be considered and specific solution sequences shall be developed. Shall issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps. Where applicable he shall produce advanced reduced dynamic mathematical models. Generation of Load Cases for Static and Dynamic Structural Dimensioning The Contractor shall be responsible for the generation and setup of load cases for static and dynamic structural analysis design and tests for Agency funded projects. Heshe shall make use of mathematical model responses, Launcher Coupled Analysis results, MultiBody Dynamics analysis tools, as well as test flight data and be familiar with spacecraft design practices. Heshe shall evaluate critically the results and the loads and issue relevant documentation. Furthermore the following tasks are included The Contractor shall support the activities of development contracts regarding the above areas, including direct interfaces with the prime contractors, participate in progress meetings and reviews, as requested, and provide appropriate feedback on the achieved progress and discussions. HeShe shall have as well adequate knowledge in the employment of the relevant software, such as Nastran, Patran, Rayon, AutSEA, DynaWorks, SIMPACK, DCAP, FABE. Some experience with CAD software such as Catia5 would be an advantage. Additionally, some experience on fracture control and, in particular on fracture crack growth and fatigue analyses using ESACRACK and ESAFATIGUE would be an asset.

One of our space clients based in Germany is seeking a Management Support Engineer to support the development of the ground segment of the EPSSG satellite system. The key person will be a member of the EPSSG Ground Segment Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO and be involved in supporting the EPSSG Ground Segment development activities. The closing date for submissions is 22062016. Tasks The Project Management Support Consultant will provide support to the EPSSG Ground Segment Manager and team for management related aspects. The key person shall report to the EPSSG Ground Segment Manager, who is responsible for the ground segment project and for the daytoday assignment of the Consultants activities. The tasks of the Project Management Support Consultant will typically include but not necessarily be limited to the following Coordinate and maintain, in relation with the project control team, the Ground Segment Project Management Plan, Team Organisation Chart, Work Breakdown Structure WBS, Work Packages, Product Tree, and related documents. Contribute to follow up subsystem development activities. monitor deliverables to and from partner agencies and industry, and support the review of deliverables. Support on a case by case basis the other Programmes within the LEO Division in Project management support activities. Qualifications University Degree Skills The key person shall be able to analyse complex situations, identify critical areas and produce accurate and concise analyses, recommendations and synthesis. Heshe shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks autonomously, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks and work in a rigorous way to agreed deadlines. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. The key person shall have the following experience, background and skills At least 3 years experience performing project management activities preferably on large and complex development projects in the aerospace or similar domain. Ability to make synthesis from various written or verbal inputs with excellent English writing skills. Computer skills with strong experience withability to use MS Office software e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, etc.. The following would be additional assets Certification in project management or in project management disciplines. Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and processes.
