Support to modifications to the operational systems Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment. Support to the preparations for recurrent satellites and future satellite programs Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programmes such as MetopC and MSG4 Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for future operational programmes such as Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. Support to operations teams Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. Qualifications Experience Academic and work related requirements University degree in engineering, science or equivalent. Required experience and skills are Deep knowledge ofoperation of spacecraft control systems Proven travck record developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software Solid work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system Work experience with the SCOS spacecraft control system Experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software Perfect command of English, verbal and written Selfmotivated and proactive work style Excellent communication skills Strong data analysis, problem solving, processing and synthesis skills The following experience would be additional assets Use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems Definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of spacecraft mission control systems Operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems Use of configuration management systems such as CVS Use of satellite simulators Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations Familiarity with EPOCH IPS MC product suite from Integral Systems now Kratos Windows operating system Linux operating system leading a small team of engineers. You will be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. You will also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. You will be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Processing Operations Engineer to support the Routine Operations phases of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, Meteosat Transition MTP and the clients Polar System EPS Programs and to be a member of the Data Processing Operations DPO Team supporting the operations of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. Also to support the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft and the preparations for the Meteosat Third Generation and further development of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. Typical tasks and responsibilities will include supporting routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems, including Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations providing Standby callout support supporting the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates supporting the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft supporting the preparations for Meteosat Third Generation attendance at technical meetings participation in formal reviews. All applicants should have experience in in the realtime acquisition, Level 0 processing and Level 1 processing of data andor Level 2 processing of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft and with UNIXLinux operating systems along with significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems and a high degree of autonomy. Good analytical skills and good communication skills are essential. Experience and knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Spacecraft andor ground segment operations with the Meteorological Climate geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical parameters. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in a relevant discipline and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.
