Ground Segment Operations Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities The European Space Operations Centre ESOC is the main mission control centre for the European Space Agency ESA and provides satellite operations and ground station tracking network services to its users. As part of the ESTRACK Ground Operations Team, you will have the following responsibilities Missionspecific validation of ground segment elements prior to critical operations Define mission specific ground station configuration Validate station configuration and MC tailoring for remote operations Define and give mission specific training to ECC staff Support the certification of operators Generate and maintain mission specific Ground Segment Operations documentation e.g. GOP, training material Monitor performance of ESTRACK services provided to customers and trigger corrective actions in case of degradations Initiate or conduct investigations into anomalies affecting the Ground service to the mission Participate in regular meetings. The main area of expertise for this service request is the Simulator SIM, although support on the area of Mission Control Systems MCS is expected Responsibilities Duties Tasks The primary area of responsibility for this service is for Data Systems Operations Engineering, covering the areas of the following two Mission Data Systems MDS Sentinels Mission Control Systems Engineering support Sentinels Simulators Engineering support For both of these Mission data systems, the service includes Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems.
