Spacecraft Operations Engineer

For our activities in ESOC, we are currently seeking a specialist to cover a Spacecraft Operations Engineering service assigned to GALILEO ESOC Flight Control Team. The primary areas of responsibility for this service are Data Handling, TTC OBSM. The key personnel will report to the ESOC Galileo Spacecraft Operations Manager. The Galileo LEOP operations preparation and execution will be carried out by a Flight Control Team comprising CNES and ESOC engineers. The LEOPs will take place either at ESOC Darmstadt or at CNES Toulouse, with the full team involved in each LEOP preparation and part of it involved in the LEOP at each site. Tasks The service provider will support and closely cooperate with the SOM during the prelaunch operations preparation, ops products validation and the LEOP execution phases of Galileo IOC missions. The responsibilities of the Spacecraft Operations Engineer include in particular Data Handling, TTC, onboard software and OBSM operations Close interaction and working with the other Galileo LEOP SOEs, based at ESOC and CNES Review of documentation produced by the Galileo spacecraft manufacturer SSEG Review of the procedures created by SSEG Review of the procedures created by OPS Development of LEOP specific nominal and contingency recovery operating procedures using the MOIS tools Providing specialist subsystem advice on the development and content of the Operational Database Development of tools to manage the Data Handling and TTC subsystems during LEOP in particular ANDs, GRDs, mimics and offline tools Validation of procedures using the Galileo Constellation Simulator CSIM and the Galileo LEOP specific SCOS2000 based control system LSCCF Preparation for and participation in the SCTCs SVTs. This will also involve the preparation of SCTC specific procedures and the writing of SCTC reports Identification, recording, investigation and progression of spacecraft and groundbased anomalies during the SCTCs, simulations campaign and LEOP Preparation for and participation in the simulations campaign Assistance to the simulations officer to provided specialist subsystem knowledge for the simulations campaign. Participation in the LEOP. This will involve shift working to provide 24 hour support to the spacecraft Support Handover and postLEOP activities, including contribution to the LEOP report. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, in particular good knowledge of Data Handling and TTC subsystems Good knowledge of OBSM configuration, operation, inputs and products Good operational experience Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns Experience with MOIS tools Ground Segment knowledge at system level Familiarity with SCOS2000 mission control system Familiarity with operational simulators Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Team player, ability to coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision. Desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Experience with ground systems testing Experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with PC based MS tools The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems.
