For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for an Dissemination Operations Engineer fm at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key person shall provide support to the Dissemination Team of the Realtime Services and Operations RSO Division of the Operations Department supporting routine operations of all EUMETSAT dissemination and encryption services, the introduction of new products and the operations preparation phases of new dissemination services such as GMES Sentinel3 and MTG Heshe shall support the routine monitoring, development and operation of current and future EUMETSAT dissemination systems managed by the Dissemination Team of the RSO Division. The duties range from the support to the operation of the various dissemination components, to the analysis, testing, and implementation of new data streams and monitoring and reporting functions. It also includes the settingup and implementation of operational procedures, and the coordination with external organisations and service providers. In particular the tasks of the Key person will include Support to routine operations of the dissemination and encryption functions within the EUMETSAT Ground Segments, including performance monitoring and in the case of anomalies, the identification and application of firstline corrective actions. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have minimum 3 years experience in operations or software maintenance of realtime data dissemination systems, and be familiar with DVBsatellite communications and ground segment operations. The Key person shall have significant work experience on operating system level in major Linux distributions and Windows 2000, XP, Windows7. During periods of standby support, the Key person shall respond to calls by telephone or beeper outside normal working hours, and shall provide remote support to Operations. The Key person may, by telephone, ascertain the nature of the problem but must be available, if required, to be present in the Mission Control Centre within one hour of callout. In such a case the callout support will essentially aim at restoring the missionservice. REPORTING Formal reporting is required at monthly intervals or in the event of a major task completion. The monthly reports and any other reports or technical documentation generated shall be submitted in writing directly to the Clients technical representatives.
