Telesat has an opening for a Network Architect Specialist who will join Network Engineering as we build our team working on the LEO Vantage program. The Network Architect Specialist provides technical leadership and extensive engineering expertise to support the development, design and implementation of Telesats next generation satellite network solutions. The incumbent will use their industry recognized expertise to lead complex systems level analyses and trades that optimize performance of the overall IP network consisting of satellites, gateway stations, network equipment and user terminals. This position will have significant influence on technical decisions that will have direct impact on the growth of the company. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Provides technical leadership in the development of next generation IP network development projects involving new satellite technologies combined with existing wireless and fiber networks. Works with sales and marketing to develop and adapt technical solutions to market demands. Engages with customers to develop technical requirements for advanced systems. Leads the creation of strategies for system development. Performs overall technical and business tradeoffs of solutions proposed to customers. Makes technical presentations to executive management to support recommendations on next generation system development. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in communication networks. Advanced IPMPLS training andor certification Cisco CCDEAr, Juniper JNCP Design Track, Nokia SRA. Recognized as a technical expert on IP and switched networking such as IPv4v6, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, RSVP, LDP, QoS, IP VPN, VLAN, VLLVPLS, MEF Forum. Extensive experience developing and implementing complex system architecture for advanced satellite or terrestrial wireless networks. Experience deploying first generation networking technologies. Direct experience with baseband system technologies, coding, modulation and associated acceleration techniques used in advanced communication systems including LTE. Extensive and broad functional experience with switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, content networking, and network management systems across a wide range of complex architectures, platforms and mediums. Experience with IPTV and streaming systems. Experience with satellite link performance trades to optimize overall system capacity is an asset. Proven experience in documenting technical requirements in specifications. Strong track record developing innovative solutions. Ability to work in a crossfunctional environment. Strong communication skills and experience presenting at the executive level. The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and to obtain CGP Controlled Goods Program clearance and be eligible for access to ITAR International Traffic in Arms Regulations controlled datahardware. As an Earth Observation Technical Architect you would be required to work in a key role in supporting and growing the Earth Observation EO business, which includes designing and developing solutions as part of both business development and project delivery. RHEA is currently recruiting a Software Architect to support our software development team in Diegem, Belgium or Darmstadt, Germany. You will have the opportunity to develop and support the mission control system and its addon tools that will operate Europes future generation of satellite and space missions. The European Ground Systems Common Core EGSCC is a European initiative to develop a common infrastructure to support space systems monitoring and control in pre and postlaunch phases for all mission types. This is expected to bring a number of benefits, such as the seamless transition from spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing AIT to mission operations, reduce cost and risk, support the modernisation of legacy systems and promote the exchange of ancillary implementations across organizations.
