RHEA is currently recruiting a Software Development Engineer to support our software development team in Diegem, Belgium or Darmstadt, Germany. You will have the opportunity to develop and support the mission control system and its addon tools that will operate Europes future generation of satellite and space missions. The European Ground Systems Common Core EGSCC is a European initiative to develop a common infrastructure to support space systems monitoring and control in pre and postlaunch phases for all mission types. This is expected to bring a number of benefits, such as the seamless transition from spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing AIT to mission operations, reduce cost and risk, support the modernisation of legacy systems and promote the exchange of ancillary implementations across organizations. The initiative is being performed as collaboration between ESA, European National Agencies and European Industry and RHEA is playing a major part in its implementation. RHEAs Industry leading MOIS software supports preparation validation and execution of all operational data, including procedures, databases and other configuration files and is used to support more than 100 spacecraft. MOIS is undergoing a major upgrade as a preparation environment addon product for EGSCC for Operations and Functional Verification. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include You will be working on a range of challenging projects, as one of the key software engineers developing systems used for the automated monitoring and control of spacecraft. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have at least a bachelor degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering or equivalent You must have at least 4 years of experience working in the software development environment. You must have hands on experience in Java 78, relevant testing frameworks JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, git, at least one relevant build tool maven preferred or Gradle SQL and at least one RDBMS, such as MySQL preferred, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, etc. Linux, UML, design and modelling tools You should have strong knowledge of technical document writing notably, user requirements, design documentation, and test documentation You possess a dynamic and proactive attitude, with a strong commitment to the ongoing development and quality of the RHEA products You have excellent communications skills, with very good written and spoken English. Tasks and Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Control and Data Centres team, whose activities cover the development of ground control systems, controlling the experiments done on board of the International Space Station, and different future space crafts, as well as the development of space weather related systems. The relevant activity for this position is the development of mission control systems for future unmanned and manned spacecrafts. In this activity, the software will be developed in the team according to detailed requirements, while following space related standards. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the development of the system following the full software development cycle, including the production of high level documentation and while adhering the relevant standards. Qualifications and Experience For this position, you must have a university degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent. The following capabilities are mandatory for the position 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of software implemented in Java. Experience with the software development lifecycle. Competent in writing highquality software project documentation in English. Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator. Good understanding of IP networks, firewalls, VPN, PKI, routing. Open Source Server environment OpenLDAP, FTP, Samba. One of our space clients based in Belgium is seeking an Embedded Software Development Engineer to work with different types of applications, platforms and programming languages. The vacancy has the opportunity to be either a permanent position, or a very longterm consultancybased role. Tasks Our wide range of products needs development on embedded microcontrollers mostly ARM based, Linux OS drivers or kernel modules adaptations and end user applications for graphical front ends. Youll need to dive into existing projects or create new projects from scratch, based on our previous platforms and modules. Youll interact with video processing systems based on FPGA and implement hardware and communication protocols with other systems. Experience Civil Engineer in Computer science or similar level through experience.
