Project Manager PMO Software Development Projects

Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. We have been selected by ESA as Prime Contractor for the development of a complex, common infrastructure to support space systems monitoring and control in pre and postlaunch phases for all mission types. The system is developed by a consortium involving 19 companies across Europe. Telespazio VEGA is seeking to appoint a Project Manager to the PMO to support the Management Team in planning, internal monitoring and reporting and to support the Project and Delivery Manager in dealings with both client and subcontractors. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to work in the space domain. You will receive a permanent contract and will be based in Darmstadt, Germany. Key objectives of this position are Safeguarding that the project is conducted in line with the Telespazio VEGA Programme and Project Management Processes, the responsibilities as delegated by the Project Manager Financial Control Cost Schedule planning and tracking Risk Opportunity management Supply chain subcontractor management Commercial management RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES Maintenance of project management and quality plans, monitor cost and schedule budgets Maintenance of the project schedule and plan Control allocation of budgets and provide progress, financial and status reports, monitor cash flow and invoicing Management of the subcontractors Contribution to the production of regular reports to the customers Management of the risks Support the quality management by KPI definition, monitoring and evaluation Support regular project reviews and audits QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE A degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent General project management experience in leading distributed development projects with multiple, multinational subcontractorspartners located at different sites ESSENTIAL SKILLS Ability to plan and execute a project effectively coordinating economic, technological and human resources within project budget and schedule Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of a larger project Ability to understand and interpret contract terms and conditions with commercial sensitivity and to negotiate opportune contract amendments Ability to ensure a high quality standard of the project output by appropriate attention to a quality management system Reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the financial status of the project Knowledge of ESAs ECSS standards or similar software engineering standards Understanding of the risks in IT Application development projects and management of such risks Good command of the English language DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience in the space domain BENEFITS Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday, generous training possibilities and Telespazio VEGA Deutschland pension scheme is offered to the successful candidate. RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Contributing in a Team to the quality assurance during the development, maintenance, verification and validation of air traffic control systems developed and used at the German Air Navigation Service Provider.
