With 1.700 employees worldwide, the CS Group is a leading IT company in France and in Germany, and a prime contractor in designing, integrating and operating mission critical systems. It has now been over 30 years that comprehensive CS solutions for space systems and applications, both on the ground and in space, have been part and parcel of this odyssey. Our German activities grow at fast pace and to face our costumers high level expectations and needs, we are looking for talented profiles having relevant experience in Space systems. The MTG Satellites will be operated from ground by means of the MTG Ground Segment, which EUMETSAT procured from Industry after a competitive tender process. The MTG Lightning Imager is based on detecting short transient events against a dark night time or bright day time background. The detected events, also known as triggered events are registered by the instrument when something resembling a lightning signal has been detected. The triggered event can be a real lightning triggered event i.e. from a real lightning optical pulse or a false event. A false event is defined as a LI triggered event occurring in the absence of a lightning optical pulse, which may have a range of causes including, but not limited to spacecraft motion microvibrations, space environment particle transients protons, heavy ions, etc., electronics noise, thermo mechanical noise, solar glint. The onground data processing for the LI instrument is split in 2 steps the 01b data processing from raw instrument data into geophysically calibrated data and the 12 data processing into data products for the LI data users groups, flashes, etc.. The 01b data processing includes various correction steps algorithms related to corrections for detector effects, electronic effects, radiometric effects, quality flagging aspects, as well as algorithms related to triggered event filtering flagging and Image Navigation and Registration INR geolocation.
