Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Satellite Level 1 Level 2 data processing Engineering of large, UNIX or LINUX based, complex, realtime satellite data processing systems, including requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration Very good technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation CC programming Scripting languages e.g. PERL, shell Software build environments and tools e.g. IBM XL C and GCC compilers, make, automake, autoconf, RPM Configuration management processes and applications Source code control systems e.g. Subversion, Git Software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This is a permanent position, calling for experience of realtime satellite instrument data processing. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should ideally be available to start in October 2015. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English and fluency in English is essential.
