VN1322 Based within the System Engineering and Projects Division of our Technical and Scientific Support Department, you will act as deputy leader of the Data Processing System Engineering team. This will involve providing technical guidance on system engineering issues, whilst contributing to the maintenance of data processing system functions for operational ground segments and the development of new programmes in the field of data and product processing system engineering. As well as contributing to the general activities of the Department, you will assist the team leader in coordinating the activities of the team, motivate and develop a number of colleagues and consultants, design and play a central part in analysing, designing, selecting, defining, and supporting the procurement of new EUMETSAT processing architectures and technologies, as well as designing architectural evolutions and managing system upgrade activities. Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline, you will bring extensive experience of developing, integrating and maintaining largescale software systems in operational, highavailability, timecritical environments, ideally related to earth observation spacecraft payload data processing. At the same time, you should be skilled in technical contract management and competent in engineering processes using formal methods and tools, with good knowledge of standards relevant to EO Data Processing systems. You will have a proven ability to develop and manage teams. In addition, you will be adept at influencing across the organisation, with a track record of earning your colleagues respect through technical competence and drive. Finally, you must be familiar with the design of payload data processing systems, capable of communicating in English with some knowledge of French, and ideally able to use networking technologies. Consultancy Support on Data Processing Systems and Applications 1313096 Job Description As member of the Data Processing Systems and Applications Group, the candidate will be providing engineering support to the EPSSG Ground Segment team in the frame of the EPSSG Preparatory Programme Phase B, with support expected to be extended to cover the complete development life cycle in the next phases of the Programme. In addition, the key person will also be regularly involved in the following tasks requiring interaction and coordination with other teams at System and Ground Segment level Review of System, Space Segment and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing Review of instrument data processing algorithms and calibration concepts defined by the Space Segment with emphasis on their implications on Ground Segment data processing concepts, interfaces and architecture Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings at System and Ground Segment level. In performing these tasks the key person shall comply with the EUMETSAT organisational and divisional rules, management standards and working practices. The set of applicable rules and working practices will be made available at start of the duties in EUMETSAT. Required Skills and Experience At least 5 years of experience in engineering of Ground Segment data processing elements for Earth Observation missions, including requirements specification, definition of interfaces, architecture and testing concepts At least 3 years of direct involvement in specification, design, development andor procurement of at least two of the following Ground Segment elements Processing infrastructure for Level 1 and Level 2 data processing Level 1 instrument data processors Frontend and L0 processing Fluency in English. Willing to work within a multidisciplinary and dynamic context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. Heshe shall have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Climate Data Processing Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. Your responsibilities will include Product and algorithm specifications for ERACLIM2 climate data records Implement operational product processing chains in the reprocessing environment Implement operational processors into the operational reprocessing chains Development and implementation of operational functional and product quality monitoring procedures for reprocessing monitoring and validation system Analyse resulting product quality of ERACLIM2 products Execute reprocessing campaigns for all planned ERACLIM2 data sets Prepare ERACLIM2 data sets for ingestion into the Data Centre Compile data set documentation including validation reports, user guides and format descriptions Compile project result presentations and participate in project meetings.
