The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to Tasks and Responsibilities Real time coordination of the Service Delivery Operations of the whole EDRS System Space and Ground Segment Monitoring of the Space Data Highway service execution and performance and reporting of incidents to the customers First Point of Contact for the Space Data Highway service to the customers User Help Desk Supervision of EDRS Service planning and reporting to the EDRS Operations Manager in case of conflicts Monitoring and control of the following EDRS subsystems PMOCBMOC, EDTEDCSU, IT Network Infrastructure, Dwell Ground Station DWGS Monitoring of the payload downlink signal via the Carrier Spectrum Monitoring system First level reaction to anomalies for the above listed subsystems applying the applicable contingency procedures Data collection to allow engineering troubleshooting after anomalies or trend analyses Activation of EDRS Engineering support when required Activation of EDRS IT Infrastructure team on call support when required Activation of HDGS engineering on call support when required by AMC Ingestion of adhoc Space Segment activities Routine and Basic Payload Requests upon request by the EDRS Operations Manager Supervision of the automatic distribution of the EB9B and EDRSC satellites orbit to the users Supervision of the automatic distribution of the EDRS Service Availability and Communication Schedules to the users and to the EDRS operations entities Management of the EDRS Service JIRA Ticketing System User Help Desk Supervision and logging of EDRS Service Key Performance Indicators KPI DailyWeeklyMonthly Operations Reporting to the customer and management. Requirements Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Aerospace or equivalent technical education Experience in satellite andor ground segment operations is desirable Experience in the field of space and operations is desirable Knowledge of satellite communications, earth observation missions, as well as mission operation ground infrastructure e.g. ESOC, DLR, etc. In depth knowledge of MSOffice Knowledge of problem solving in IT landscapes would be a plus Knowledge of Linux would be a plus Fluent in English German skills are a plus Willingness for 3shift work Strong focus on customer and service High level of motivation, selfdriven with high flexibility and good communication skills Ability to operate in a multinational team organization. Job description EDRS European Data Relay System is a satellite based high data rate optical communication system for relaying user data received from low earth orbit LEO satellites via geostationary satellites directly to the ground for further distribution. The system consists of the space segment two geostationary satellites and the ground segment. The first GEO satellite EDRSA has been launched January 2016 and the second GEO satellite is planned for third quarter 2017. Kaband intersatellite links are supported alongside with the optical communication capacity. A Kaband based service will be provided to the International Space Station from late 2017 onwards. Future system evolution will expand the EDRS service range to manned and unmanned aeronautical application. EDRS is a PPP program between ESA and Airbus. Airbus CIS is the prime contractor and responsible for the management and implementation of the programme and the subsequent provision of the data relay service to ESA and other customers over a period of minimum 15 years. The operation of the system and the corresponding provision of the data relay service is done through the EDRS ground segment consisting of primary and backup mission operation centre MOC primary and backup satellite control centre SCC payload control centre DPCC four ground stations communication network The primary mission operation centre is located at Airbus Ottobrunn. Tasks As a Verification Validation Engineer for Operations Products, you are responsible for the validation of flight procedures. Your activities will be performed in close cooperation with system engineering, spacecraft prime and operations contractor. The holder of this position will be located at Ottobrunn and reports to the head of the engineering team. Regular shift work is not required with exception of InorbitTest support.
