Spun yarn prices are expected to significantly bottom out in China where fiber prices have recovered in the last week. Polyester staple fiber prices have sharply rebounded, meaning that margins will further fall at spinning mills, with many plants plunging into the red. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. PTA prices have sharply risen in the last week in China, eventually surging 13% in seven days only. Petrochemical prices have been boosted by the announcement that US-China negotiations would soon resume. Prices have more than erased their recent fall, now returning to a 4-month high in China. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
