Mission Control System Integration and Verification Engineering Support MF

Mission The key person will provide hisher prime support to the integration and verification testing of the Monitoring Control System, but will also support integration and verification activities at Mission Control Function level including Flight Dynamics and Mission Planning Systems. The tasks of the key person will typically include Integration Verification activities o Integration of the various components of a Monitoring Control System and integration of the Monitoring Control System with the rest of systems in the Mission Control Function. These integration activities include software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces, analysis and solution to problems, ... o Generation and updates of test plan and test procedures both for the Monitoring Control System and at Mission Control Function level. This activity covers functional verification testing and nonregression testing manual and automatic testing. o Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results, troubleshooting of problems, ... o Generation of test data and test tools that facilitate the software verification and nonregression testing. o Maintaining the verification status of the software requirement baseline for the Monitoring Control System. Software Maintenance Activities o Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation of anomalies in the software systems and verification testing of the fixes. Technical Management o Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. o Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. o Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. Software engineering methodology o Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. o Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies. User Support o Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. o Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. Profile In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software maintenance and testing. The key person shall have skills and experience in software maintenance and testing with the following mandatory areas 1. System Integration Verification Skills o Extensive experience minimum 3 years in integration activities for Satellite Monitoring Control Systems. This includes software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces and troubleshooting of problems both at subsystem and system level. o Extensive experience minimum 3 years in verification testing activities of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system and generation of test reports. o Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the investigation of software anomalies and verification testing of fixes, preferably in the domain of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems. o Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. 2. Software Engineering Skills o Experience in the maintenance of software applications following formal software engineering processes including at least configuration management, change management and anomaly reporting and tracking. o Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using Java under UNIX operating systems. o Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using C under UNIX operating systems. o Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting. 3. Documentation and Configuration Management Skills o Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience with documentation management systems. o Experience in using configuration Management and anomaly reporting and tracking tools. Fluency in English written and oral is mandatory. Main duties are the operation of the MSG Central Facility CF and the EPS Mission Control System MCS, and supporting operational use of Mission Control Facility MCF Tools and the mission controlrelated multimission tools. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the MCS, and the interfaces between the MCS and other components of the EPS Core Ground Segment CGS. The Key Person will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to the operation of the MCS and these interfaces, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. In addition, the Key Person will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the MSG System, and the EPS CGS and OGS, particularly in the areas of system monitoring control and data flows, due to the central role the CF and MCS play in the MSG and EPS Systems. The Key Person will review any planned changes to the system configuration and the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine operation of the CF and MCS. The Key Person will provide oncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers. The Key Person will provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs, and for future operational programs now in development. The Key Person will perform the following tasks Support to routine operations Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison with the operations analysts to ensure continuity and optimisation of databaserelated activities Interface with other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission monitoring and control activities Interface with external elements of the operational Ground Segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of data exchanges with the mission control systems Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in further technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings. The tasks assigned to the Key Person will be agreed through dedicated workpackages with clear identification of activities and outputs expected. In the performance of these tasks, the Key Person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. PROFILE In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least seven years work experience in the operation of spacecraft control systems at least five years work experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software at least five years work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system at least two years work experience with the SCOS spacecraft control system at least two years work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software.
