Mission Control Operations Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role you will have the following responsibilities Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Interface with other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment mission monitoring Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses and to critical operations Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programmes such as MetopC and MSG4 Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for future operational programmes. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in engineering, science, or equivalent Several years of expierence in the operation of spacecraft control systems as well as developing and or maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software Experience in developing and or maintaining software for a UNIX operating system Knowledge of SCOS spacecraft control system Experience in defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The Mission Our customer, ESA, develops ground software systems for supporting the spacecraft mission operations at its operations centre, ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. Such engineers support ESA staff in the process of developing and maintaining the operational systems in use, for example by supporting the definition the specifications, supporting formal validation of developed systems, and assisting end users, such as spacecraft operators, in utilizing the systems. The Challenge We are looking for software engineers to support development, test and validation of ESOC mission control systems and operational simulators. The engineers will have experience of Operational Mission Control Systems Operational Simulator Systems Mission Planning Systems ESOCs family of software infrastructure products. Engineers will be responsible for the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of mission control systems.
