Senior Technical Development Manager Category Information Technology City Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom Position ID J03161830 Permanent Full Time Position Description The CGI Galileo Development Project is looking for a Senior Technical Development Manager to manage a 30 strong development team. The chosen member of staff for this exciting opportunity will be required to be Security clearable and be available to work full time in CGIs offices in Leatherhead, Surrey. There will the requirement to travel to Italy and Germany. The development team is based between Holland and Leatherhead and as a result, regular trips will be required to Holland from the base in Leatherhead. Essential 1. 510 years of development management experience for medium to large scale projects 20 30 developers with at least 3 years of operating in a waterfall method in a fixed price environment 2. Experience of gathering and planning estimation bid reviews for development project phases in excess of 5k days 3. Excellent written, organisational and technical skills 4. Good negotiation, communication and facilitation skills 5. Strong ability to understand and troubleshoot technical issues Nice to have 1. Experience of working in a secure environment 2. Experience of Space industry 3. Experience of management of development projects using Oracle DB and Java midtier technologies 4. Experience of management of both evolution and maintenance phases of a project 5. ISEB, Java, PRINCE or MSP certification 6. Developer Tester experience previous to development management The role will require a rounded individual with strong negotiation, communication and planning acumen alongside a highly technical mind. The individual will be required to regularly report to high level management and clients as well as drive low level technical investigation activity using appropriate management style. This is a rare blend of both highly technical and management level skillset. The role is also responsible for Ensuring high level plans are reflected accurately in the Development team plans Driving software development teams to demanding deadlines, identifying and removing nonproductive tasks and clearing perceived blocking issues. Providing concise and accurate reports of progress and issues Ensuring development teams have strong project level planning and tracking and plans issues risks are discussed weekly in 121s Ensuring evolutions are flowed from DA to development and checked against designs during development to assess progress and track issues before integration Making sure defects are resolved and fixed to clearly presented solution and development test scope which is reviewed Ensuring integration boundaries between components are maintained during both evolutions and maintenance fixes Ensuring branching and merging strategy is well managed, tracked and communicated to developers Ensuring training and development processes and procedures are delivered to ensure common working practice Managing Code Violations, OSS reviews during development lifecycles Ensuring test verification is achieved for all commits aligning to the overall development and verification plan Ensuring best practice developer training is progressed to ensure good coding practices and consistent high quality code is developed Bringing experience of best practice toolingframeworkstroubleshooting to improve development efforts Ensuring reviews and development testing at unit and module level is sufficient to produce high quality code and minimise number of test cycles defects raised Driving lessons learned and resulting improvement recommendations At CGI, were a team of builders.
