EPSSG Data Processing Systems Procurement Manager

EUMETSAT is now embarking on new and challenging satellite development programmes, shaping its longterm future. EPSSG Data Processing Systems Procurement Manager REF. VN1412 In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of activities relating to Payload Data Processing Systems for Low Earth Orbit missions during development within the Ground Segment. During the EPSSG Ground Segment GS development phase, you will manage the engineering definition of the Payload Data Processing component, industrial activities associated with the procurement and development of the component and all the related activities leading to the integration, verification and validation. Following handover to operations, you will be involved in postdelivery support activities in particular during the operational validation of the EPSSG Ground Segment and later on during the satellites and overall system commissioning activities. To join us, you will require a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, plus practical experience of meteorological, earth observation or remote sensing nearrealtime, highly available, instrumentrelated data processing systems. In particular, you should be skilled in specifying, designing, implementing, integrating and testing Payload Data Processing Systems, leading teams, and adhering to ISO, CCSDS and ECSS standards. Finally, awareness of meteorological data formats such as NetCdf, HDF and BUFR plus compression algorithms would be a major advantage, and you should combine excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with fluency in English and a knowledge of French. Following handover to operations, you will be involved in the postdelivery support activities in particular during the operational validation of the EPSSG Ground Segment and later on during the satellites and overall system commissioning activities. Together with a degree in Software, Space or System Engineering or a similar discipline, you will bring a proven track record in satellite and mission operation systems for polar andor geostationary applications. Your expertise should span specification, design, implementation, integration and testing across the full ground segment lifecycle, and you will be well versed in applying formal methodologies, standards and processes. Needless to say, you should possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, a very analytical mindset and the ability to lead teams. VN1411 Driving engineering activity for Ground Stations for Low Earth Orbit missions, you will support preparation and implementation of future satellite programmes. In particular, during the EPSSG Ground Segment development, you will be managing the engineering definition of the Ground Stations, as well as the industrial activities associated with the procurement and development of the facility and all the related activities leading to the integration, verification and validation of the facility. Following handover of the Ground Segment to operations, you will be involved in the postdelivery support activities in particular during the operational validation of the Ground Segment and later on during the satellites and overall system commissioning activities. This is an exceptionally wideranging position, involving management of some highvalue industrial contracts, so you will require a good University Degree in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering plus proven experience of ground stations systems specification, design, implementation, integration and testing. Following formal methodologies, standards and processes should be second nature to you, as should be leading teams. Finally, you should be able to work effectively in English and have knowledge of French.
