The mission is to measure seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour with highend accuracy and reliability in support of ocean forecasting systems, and for environmental and climate monitoring. The first of two Sentinel3 spacecraft is planned to be launched in mid2015. The Challenge We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide support to work on site at our customer, EUMETSAT, located in Darmstadt, Germany in support of EUMETSATs Sentinel3 Long Term Archive Services. The primary tasks and responsibilities of the Long Term Archive Software Engineer are Provide support to the development, maintenance and evolutions of the Data Services systems, with special focus on the Sentinel3 Long Term Archive Services Gather requirements, design, implementation, testing, configuration, maintenance of documentation and 2nd line support for EUMETSAT Long Term Archive developed software, with focus on the Sentinel3 mission and related software, throughout the entire software life cycle including review of similar software This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in May 2015. Interviews for the position are planned between 9th and 20th March. The tasks and responsibilities of the Communication Engineer include To support the operations and maintenance of the network infrastructure and services of the Copernicus Sentinel3 Ground Segment To carry out the handling and the troubleshooting of the network systems and services anomaly To support the operations, administration and maintenance of thirdparty provided network services To monitor and report the performance of the network infrastructure and systems, including thirdparty provided network services, and the quality of the services delivered to the users The position includes the need for oncall standby support. During periods of standby support, you will need respond to calls by telephone outside normal working hours, and provide support at EUMETSAT if the problem cannot be resolved remotely. Software Engineer for Mission Control System Support Sentinel3

This is an opportunity for a motivated and experienced engineer to work for our EUMETSAT customer within a new and interesting space mission. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission in the context of the Copernicus Services set up by the European Commission. The first satellite, Sentinel3A, is expected to launch mid2015 with the second satellite Sentinel3B operating in tandem and due for launch 18 months later. EUMETSATs monitors and controls Sentinel 3 satellites and generates near realtime and offline products to support the marine user community. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline the Engineer shall have skills and experience in software maintenance, evolution and testing with the following mandatory areas 1. Domain Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in all the following MICONYS components is considered mandatory SCOS2000, SLE API, F ARC, PARC and NIS. Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. 2. Software Development Maintenance Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development of application software, preferably for Satellite Mission Control Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Experience minimum 3 years in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software for Satellite Mission Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing. Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. 3. Software Engineering Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems. Experience minimum 3 years in developing and maintaining software applications using objectoriented technologies, Unified Modelling Language UML for software design and CASE design tools. It would be a distinct advantage for the Engineer to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following 4. Domain Skills Experience with the following list ofMICONYS components DABYS, EDDS, GFTS, MATIS, SFT and SMF. Experience with Mission Control Systems for LEO spacecraft. Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using ODBCJDBCbridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL RDBMS. Data model design for RDBMS. Administration ofMySQL RDBMS. Interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBAstandards. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSL TandXPath. Eclipse Rich Client Platform applications development and maintenance. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing andtroubleshooting. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. TASKS EXPERIENCE Training prepare and provide training covering usage and maintenance aspects of the application software. Technical Management Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. The Engineer will provide hisher prime support to the evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 Mission Control System part of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 FOS. The EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 Mission Control System is built from MICONYS components like SCOS2000, F ARC, PARC and NIS. The tasks of the Engineer will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenancedriven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts I tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, rwming the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software.
