Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Senior System Operations Engineer to provide consultancy support to the Sentinel3 Flight Operations Segment FOS operations. The principle FOS components are The Mission Control System The Mission Planning Facility The Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operational Simulator The Flight Dynamics Facility The main scope of the consultancy is to support The routine operations phase of the Sentinel3A satellite The operations preparation, commissioning and subsequent routine operations of Sentinel3B The procurement of Sentinel3 C and D spacecraft You will be integrated into the Sentinel3 System Operations Team, within the Flight Operations Division of the EUMETSAT Operations and User Services Department. You will be expected to provide system operations engineering support, covering all spacecraft interface and flight operations aspects of the Sentinel3 Ground Segment, as well as the operational service monitoring and control. Responsibilities You will provide support to the development and operation of the Copernicus Sentinel3 Ground Segment, as well as its evolution. Your main duties will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Manual and automated system and satellite operations including planning and scheduling Flight operations segment monitoring and reporting Communications systems operations Security operations Ensuring business continuity System evolutions You will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to system operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the Sentinel3 ground segment. You will be expected to Acquire and maintain a systemwide view of the Sentinel3 ground segment. In particular, you will maintain operational expertise on all aspects of the FOS Review any planned changes to the system configurations for the Sentinel3 ground segment, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. Support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent Sentinel3 satellites Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any system hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade You will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including system and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes, etc. Production and maintenance of operations documentation Joint Operations Rules and Procedures, Operations Interface Control Documents etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis. This will be coordinated through the normal oncall process Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in July 2016. You will be based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany. Occasionally tasks may require shift, oncall support or weekend work.
