Tasks The Data Processing Engineer shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. The Key Person shall also be responsible for the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks Preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance currently in the launch preparation phase Analysis and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities Focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endtoend testing of the complete production system. Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. Participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3. Essential requirements The consultant shall have the following At least 3 years experience in the maintenance and engineering of large scale software systems, specifically missioninstrument data processing related Knowledge of software development lifecycles and demonstrable experience Competence in software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation Experience in software debugging and profiling Experience of source code control systems preferably Subversion. The Mission Sentinel3 is an earth observation mission to collect both oceanographic and land surface measurements from two low earth orbiting satellites. Terma is looking for a senior scientist to support our customer, EUMETSAT. The Challenge We are looking for a Sea Surface Temperature Scientist for the Sentinel3 Earth Observation mission, whose activities will include scientific and engineering aspects related to the scientific support to both SLSTR Levell Radiance and Brightness Temperature products and Level2 Sea Surface Temperature products. This will include contributions to the scientific development, maintenance, processors, calibration, validation, verification, routine monitoring and offline analysis of Levell and Level2 SLSTR marine data products in support of the Copernicus Sentinel3 marine mission. The requested support is for the Sentinel3 SLSTR optical mission product chains, but aligning with the other marine activities relating to the mandatory missions. Remotely sensed marine data also originates from the current and future EUMETSAT mandatory satellite programs EPS, EPSSG, MSG, MTG. Several marine products are currently already in operations or are in development from sensors such as A VHRR and IASI on MetOp and SEVIRI on MSG and may contribute to the Copernicus services. Such data may be needed to support the validation of Sentinel3 SLSTR data, through continuous intercomparison of collocated products. The candidate will work in a matrix structure providing crossdivisional support to the Copernicus Sentinel3 Operations Team and will be a member of the oceanography team of experts and scientists of the RSPMAsection of the Technical and Science Support Department. The tasks and responsibilities will include Support to the verification and validation of Level2 products Support to verification and calibration activities for Level1 products Support to the development of new tools for calibration andor validation as well as utilisation of existing tools Support to the development of new tools for product processing monitoring as well as utilisation of existing tools Investigation of anomalies and issues related to Level 1 and Level 2 product quality Support to the setup and operation of product quality monitoring and reporting tools Contribution to the analysis, assessment and maintenance of Level1Level2 marine satellite data processors and algorithms Contribution to scientific development of algorithms to support CalVal activities Contribution to the execution of scientific support studies This is a full time position, located at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, with starting date as soon as possible. The SSyOE will provide support to the operations preparation for recurrent S3 satellites into the existing systems. The SSyOE will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade, where this affects the S3 ground segment and system operations. The SSyOE will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Definition and maintenance of JORPs and OICDs with external partners Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis.
