For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Sentinel3 Data Ingestion Retrieval Service Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Consultant shall support the Operations of Copernicus related missions with respect to EUMETSA Ts Data Centre Archive and the related ondemand data access services to users, required e.g. for calibration, training support or data visualisation purposes. In addition to this it is expected that the Consultant is contributing to the enhancement of the offered data services resulting from new User Requirements, User Feedback and continuous Service improvement tasks. HeShe shall be part of the Data Centre Operations Team in the User Support and Climate Service Division USC in the EUMETSA T Operations and Services to Users Department. Experience in testing and tools. Good knowledge of standards, conventions and formats used for Earth Observation EO Satellite data. Hands on experience with EO data formats such as NetCDF and ideally GRIB or BUFR At least 2 years experience in using the UNIX operating system. The activities for this position will include scientific and engineering aspects related to the scientific support to both Sentinel3 OLCI Levell TOA Radiance products and Level2 Ocean Colour products. This will include contributions to the scientific development, maintenance, Levell and Level2 processors, instrument calibration, algorithm and product validation, verification, routine monitoring and offline analysis of Levell and Level2 OLCI marine data products in support of the Copernicus Sentinel3 marine mission. The requested support is for the Sentinel3 OLCI Ocean Colour product chains nevertheless, assistance with other marine activities may be required. EUMETSA T disseminates Ocean Colour Third Party Data to Copernicus Marine Services and is in the process of developing OCrelated products from its own mandatory missions. The OLCI CalNal activities will require intercomparisons with Third Party Ocean Colour data sets. PROFILE Scientific support consultancy is sought mainly in the areas of optical imaging for oceanography products, in particular for Ocean Colour products. The engineer shall have the following mandatory experience and background University degree in remote sensing, oceanography, physics, or equivalent Good interpersonal skills in support of team work A 5 year or longer experience with satellite Ocean Colour Handson experience with the calibration and the validation of remote sensing products Hands on experience with the development of calibration and product validationmethods and tools Familiarity with the precursor to the Sentinel3 Ocean Colour mission Experience with operational satellite data processing Mandatory 5 years of scientific programming skills C, IDLPVWAVE and ENVIor equivalent Skills in writing technical and scientific documents Familiarity with Linux programming environment and Microsoft Office. The first of two Sentinel3 spacecraft is planned to be launched in mid2015. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administration Engineer who will be working at our customers site, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. As a member of the Computer and Storage Management team, you will provide support for Sentinel3 Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. The duties range from the support to the operation of the Linuxbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. This includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. Tasks to be performed include installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions administration of user accounts support to SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades provision of standbyoncall support provision of support, as required, to critical operations generate and maintain documentation. The main area of responsibility of this position is for supporting to the evolution and maintenance of the Sentinel3 Mission Control System. The Sentinel3 Mission Control System is built from MICONYS software components such as SCOS2000, FARC, PARC and NIS.
