Propulsion Systems Product Manager Telecommunication Satellites and Spacecraft

A vacancy for a Telecommunication Satellites and Spacecraft, Propulsion Systems, Product Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. The mission manage and develop a set of propulsion systems and products that will enable the transfer of either 100 kg spacecraft or 7000 kg satellites to an altitude of up to 35,786 km. Then control the vehicle attitude for up to 15 years full reliability required with no servicing! The product management approach is a further challenge due to the ongoing rapid advances in this technology domain and imminent changes in launcher capability vs satellitespacecraft need. You will lead a team of propulsion specialists to ensure coherence and continual development of advanced propulsion systems and products, aligned with and in cooperation with other satellite system specialists. Once developed you are accountable for continued successful application of the propulsion systems and products within a projects environment through to inspace performance. You would join the satellite platform team at a time when Airbus Defence and Space is advancing a new geostationary satellite development programme together with various smaller spacecraft development programmes that are demanding new ways of approaching the problems associated with both access to space and inspace propulsion. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Overall responsibility for the propulsion development, justification and maintenance activities including design, strategy, product segmentation, evolution road maps, funding sources, alignment with satellite product objectives and evolving payload capability. Management and coordination of a Product Strategy and Definition b Product Development and Improvements c Product Implementation within internal projects and external customers Maintaining a good overviewnetwork of all relevant SMEsUniversities to ensure active developments in support of the next generation of products. Actively access funding streams such as ARTES in support of development and platform activities. Monitor, support and sponsored applied research development programmes. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Extensive Project and Product experience in the Propulsion Engineering discipline with experience in both Architectural and detailed design aspects. Good industrial awareness required in order to appropriately balance technical, cost and schedule aspects of product development and upgrades. Demonstrate a capacity for leadership, networking and strategic thinking. Able to express thoughts clearly and exchange them with other architects and engineers. Job Profile An experienced Product Assurance Manager is required to complement the LuxSpace PA team. Shehe reports directly to the Head of Program PA. Required Skills and Tasks to be performed Have organizational authority to establish and implement a product assurance program in accordance with specific project product assurance requirements. Interface with the project management to ensure that contractual provisions and schedule planning for the definition and phasing of PA activities are met. Acts as the focal point of contact within a project for PA matters. Non Conformance Report NCR, Request for Deviation RFD, Request for Waiver RFW and Request for Approval RFA management, using Sapienza NCTS tool. Chair all related Non Conformance Review Boards NRB and Change Control Board CCB meetings towards lower tier supplier and participate in customer NRBs and CCBs as a board member. Required Skills, Experience and Candidate Profile University degree BachelorMasterDiploma or equivalent Experience in product assurance management 10y, gained in a professional position, preferably in the aerospace industry with focus on micro satellites Experience in some areas of engineering Handson experience Comfortable dealing with customers and suppliers Ability to work and interface with a multinational team Methodical workapproach Taking responsibility and being proactive Willingness to travel Good communication capabilities, analytical sense and priority setting abilities Languages Good English language skills spoken and written, German andor French knowledge will be considered an asset Driving license desirable class B EU citizenship or valid Luxembourg work permit mandatory for nationals from nonEUcountries or countries treated as such. The successful applicant will join the Payload Product Development department. The Payload product development group belongs to the Payload Product department within the telecom programme directorate. It is a transnational entity across France and the UK. Its main role is to develop advanced payload architectures answering to future telecom satellite customer demands. It covers in particular new payload concepts based on digital processing, such as active antennas or photonics solutions, for instance. The main objectives are to define advanced added value architectures, high level requirements for key enabling technologies and solutions and to define development road maps. In its activities, the payload development group interfaces with the commercial and marketing entities, with institutional entities CNES, ESA, CE, EDA, etc., as well as with internal and external equipment suppliers.
