Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Data Processing Systems Support Engineer. You will be supporting the Data processing Systems and Applications Competence Area of the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division by assisting in defining specification, preliminary design, integrating procurement, testing and transferring to operations of Data Processing elements for future programmes under development. Your work will be focused on providing support to the Jason CS Programme within the Jason CS Ground segment. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Requirements engineering in DOORS for Jason CS data processing requirements. This includes review, specification and refinement of existing requirements, their uptraces to parent Ground Segment specifications, justifications and verification methods Ensuring coherency of requirements with algorithms specifications Definition of ICDs between data processing elements and other GS functions Definition of Testing and Operational scenarios for data processing elements Definition of data processing concepts and tradeoffs to support requirements, understanding and justification Support the procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the contractor and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Support management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements Support in refinement of ICD Support in testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings. In addition, there will be regular involvement in the following tasks requiring interaction and coordination with other teams at System and Ground Segment level Review of System and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing, including review of instrument data processing algorithms and calibration concepts with emphasis on their implications on Ground Segment data processing concepts, interfaces and architecture in the course of which support to the prototyping of algorithms and production of test data may be required This is a fulltime position with a planned start as soon as possible. You will be nominally based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany, but shall be in a position to travel within Europe or worldwide, if required. Furthermore you shall be able to attend reviews and progress meetings outside the EUETSAT premises on a short notice. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree, in the domain of engineering, science, physics, or software or equivalent suitable qualification. Essential skills are Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems considering the systems engineering aspects of data processing management and data provision Knowledge of requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation. Relevant experience in monitoring and implementation of designs against requirement baselines and IVV, testing and formal acceptance Ability to maintain system overview, which must be exercised within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams, covering several different data processing levels and instruments Ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context in regard to the development of Jason CS Excellent oral and written communication skills in English The following experience would be an additional asset Knowledge of the IBM DOORS tool or an equivalent for requirements management Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards Relevant experience with L0L1L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operationsmaintenance or specification and development. You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You will mainly provide support to the Low Earth Orbit Programme Division by supporting the development and procurement of the EPSSG Mission Planning System MPS, and all activities related to EPSSG operations preparation. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Supporting the EPSSG ground segment team in the development and procurement of the MPS and any related tools Analysing and reviewing relevant EPSSG documentation, preparing technical notes and attending technical meetings Participating in reviews for the MPS and, when necessary, interfacing facilities and associated tools, throughout the procurement lifecycle Participating in MPS factory or onsite acceptance testing and related activities at facility and system level. If necessary, creating and executing test procedures to support this activity Analysing reporting on test results, in particular with respect to requirement verification and validation Proposing changes to the MPS or related tools for instance to modify some aspect of the software functionality, and contributing to the process for implementing such changes change justification, baseline requirements update, issuing the change request, liaison with external contractors, etc Raising, monitoring and steering the lifecycle of MPS related anomaly reports ARs and nonconformance reports NCRs. Supplying context and analysis to support the investigation of anomalies Participating in the installation of the MPS and related tools at EUMETSAT. Verifying the installation Defining the MPS operational implementation rules, database structures, etc and maintaining a detailed understanding of the space and ground segment operational needs that are met through mission planning Producing and maintaining MPS related documentation such as the Operational Implementation document and the MPS User Operations Guide Interacting with internal users, suppliers and partner organisations Providing procurement support to other future missions, notably JasonCS, if required. In support to operational missions EPS, Sentinel3, the tasks may include Performing routine scheduling tasks and providing oncall support as required. Technical Operations Support Coordinator CGIexperience the commitment Category Information Technology City Paris, Ain, France Position ID J08161017 Employment Type Full Time Position Description The Galileo Security Facility GSF forms part of the Galileo PRS Public Regulated Service and will be operated from Saint GermainenLaye GSMC1, just outside Paris and from the NATS in Swanick, Hampshire GSMC2. The Primary centre will be the French Site with UK site at Swanick as the backup site. We require an onsite Technical Operations Support Coordinator for the GSMC Galileo Security Monitoring Centre client site in SaintGermainenLaye Office in Paris. You will report to the CGI onsite Operations Support Manager and will be required to work with GSMC users and operators to support them as they bring the GSMC into operational use and how they manage and support the CGI systems as part of their day to day operations. This is a key and strategic role, the GSF system in the GSMC is a highly secure and technically comprehensive system so it can deliver its required PRS capability. To do this the system must be managed and maintained and operated correctly, and this role is designed to give the users the necessary support, direction and understanding for them to do so and operate the system effectively and efficiently. The role will require handling of classified material, therefore you should ensure that you are familiar with the appropriate procedures for handling classified material at the GSMC site and that you follow these procedures. The role onsite at the GSMC is 5 days per week. You need to be already Security Cleared and an a UKEU resident. Some on call service outside working hours may also be required for time to time. Responsibilities will include Provide operational procedure support and instruction to users and operators of the system. Provide training support and instruction. Pre training will be provided on the GSF system and deployed test tools at the CGI offices in Leatherhead before deployment to the GSMC site. Work with the GSA and other agencies to ensure the overall site operation of the GSMC is maintained and supported. Support the management of site spares and asset management control, particularly for security devices. Work with the various security teams to ensure correct implementation of transportation and delivery of secure items. Support change and fault observation review boards Assist with fault and issues investigation and work with the support teams in LHD to identify and where possible resolve issues. Supporting the onsite teams, ensuring clearances and access etc and being a key point of contact. Raise any significant site issues including any safety issues with the CGI Operations Support Manager. Ensure you manage and work to the defined GSMC Operations Manuals and Maintenance procedures defined for the system. Also work with the team s in LHD to further develop and enhance these procedures with experience and input from users. Support and assist in the management of system upgrades of software andor hardware. Support and manage the installation of critical security patches. Develop an understanding of the GSMC systems, and become the key technical CGI system expert. Interaction with Others. You should liaise regularly with the members of the GSF project team in Leatherhead UK and Toulouse FR. In particular, you should help to ensure that we work together as a coordinated team and that we are all kept aware of events or client activities that affect the project and its activities. Some occasional travel to these offices will be required. Work with the Thales France and CGI GSMC representatives to ensure we have a coordinated and joined up approach to activities and issues occurring on the site. Work with ESA and the GSA to conduct multisite testing and interface proving.
