Job Description We are looking for a Data Centre Operations Engineer to provide engineering consultancy to the following The Data Services offered by the Data Centre Archive UMARF Data ingestion, retrieval and ordering User access reporting On demand data access from the GSICS and ADDE server. The new ondemand Data Access Services involving data from the EUMETSAT Data Centre The Data Store Ondemand Data Download service. The Data Tailor Web Service Ondemand Data Processing service. EUMETView Ondemand Data Visualisation service. Underlying infrastructure such as the Data Lake EUMETSATs future central data repository. The responsibilities include 1st Line Support to the above Services. Operational support and execution of routine operational tasks. Configuration, validation and testing of service releases. Support to integration of user requirements and evolutions. Required Skills and Experience A University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering science discipline. Experience in working in the Unix Linux OS. Experience in software development in CC and Java. Experience in working with Relation Databases and SQL. Experience in scripting in Shell, Perl or Python. Proven experience in using MS Office at least using of MS Word and MS Outlook. Excellent team working skills as well as being able to work autonomously. Very good analytical skills. Very good communication and behavioural skills. The ability to perform under high workloads. Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. As a member of the support team, experience in any of the following is also required. Applying the software development life cycle for systems development i.e. Proven record for the specification and validation of system and user requirements. Writing of test plans and related documentation for verifying and validating computing systems. Testing and using test automation of software e.g. QFS. Preparation and review support of development and user documentation. Experience in using Source code control systems such as GitLab. Continuous Integration and Deployment Technologies GitLab CI, Jerkins, etc. Rest APIs. Software Development Environments such as the Eclipse. XMLXSDXLT and their associated tools. Experience of working in an operations environment supporting the analysis and resolution of system anomalies, and user support issues. Experience in working with Remote Sensing Data and their Formats. Experience in using documentation management systems Desirable Skills and Experience Experience in the development of the product formats in netCDF and HDF. Good knowledge of standards, conventions and guidelines for the specification of metadata for Earth Observation data, for example Climate and Forecast Conventions. Experience with Meteorological data formats such as McIDAS, GeoTiff, BUFR and GRIB. Experience of working with Earth Observation data, and their visualisation and processing. Hosted Processing Technologies Dask, Docker Swam, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, etc. Experience with using tools such as IDV, McIDASV, IDL and THREDDS. Knowledge of OGC standards and Web Map Services Geographical Information Systems. Basic understanding of statistics generation and the use of analytical tools. We are looking for a Missions Operations Engineer to support the Heliophysics Missions Operations Unit OPSOPS which encompasses Cluster II in extended routine and Solar Orbiter in cruise missions within the Solar System Exploration Missions Division but with the possibility of supporting other missions within this division. You will join a team that supports the Operations Supervision and Mission Planning, to assuming the responsibility and performing activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including testing, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. The IVV and Operational Support Engineer will support the implementation and routine operations of the processing chain in charge of the systematic generation of the data acquired by the Sentinel2 Earth Observation mission. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support the preparation and execution of the testing, integration and acceptance of the single processing modules part of the Sentinel2 production chain. Support the preparation and execution of the endtoend testing of the Sentinel2 production chain with respect to all its external interfaces and services mission planning, auxiliary data gathering, precise orbit determination, mission performance, etc. Support the deployment of the integrated processing chain on public cloud infrastructures. Upon delivery, manage the new releases of the software components part of the processing chain. Verify the documentation and assess the adequacy of the test specifications of the software components and their subsequent updates. Provide support to the monitoring of the routine operations of the Sentinel2 processing chain, in particular in relation to the OnLine Quality Control OLQC carried out systematically on all generated data products.
