Service Evolution Engineer

The objective of this roles is to support the evolution of the activities in the European Space Programmes. Location Brussels, Belgium SPECIFIC TASKS Performing Mission analysis Technical Assessment, CostBenefit Analysis, Risk Analysis, or Impact Assessment for evolution proposals Prepare the service evolution plan. Prepare proposals for new and updated mission and service requirements. Evaluate proposal tenders and follow up projects, addressing mission and service definition. Support the assessment of the security baseline for system evolutions and flow down the mission definition and security requirements. Ensure the interoperability of programme with other satellite navigation systems. REQUIREMENTS The candidate must have a nationality from any country in the EU and eligible for the EU security clearance up to SECRET level. Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification. Prior experience in Mission and Service engineering. 5 years of experience in system engineering. Technical experience in GNSS, preferably in the Galileo andor EGNOS programmes Excellent management and organizational skills. Ability to drive technical analysis and synthesize results comparing different system design options. Experience with international standardisation processes and institutions. Fluent in English, both in speech and writing. Other language skills would be a plus. Ability and availability to travel. Submission deadline 22th of February

Service Performance Engineer

The objective of this position is to support the EU space programme regarding the performance monitoring of the services delivered. Location Brussels, Belgium SPECIFIC TASKS Monitoring the implementation of capabilities for the different delivered services, the definition of the associated reporting and the validation phase. Assess the review of the performance reports. Analyse potential inconsistencies or discrepancies and propose solutions. Define and followup of specific campaignbased service performance analyses. Support the preparation of consolidated performance reports by compiling the inputs from the various sources. Prepare other performance related documents, such as the Service description document. Support the definition and implementation of inhouse performance assessment capabilities. REQUIREMENTS Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification. 5 years of experience in Navigation Service and performance management. Knowledge of the GNSS Systems and PRS design. Strong background on GNSS technologies, standards, signal processing and SBAS architectures Knowledge of space systems operations and real time service delivery. Excellent management and organizational skills. Demonstrated capabilities in technical documentation writing in institutional context ESAGSA. Experience of working in line with EU regulations, international security standards. Fluent in English, both in speech and writing. Other language skills would be a plus. Dependability and Safety Engineer RAMS Specialist

Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled Dependability and Safety Engineer RAMS Specialist who will work for ESTEC, in the Netherlands. SPECIFIC TASKS Reporting to the Head of the Dependability and Safety Section, the contractor will support the Navigation Directorate and especially the Galileo System PA Unit. Review of Project Segments RAMS analyses i.e. Ground Segments and Space Segment Production of Project System RAMS analyses Support the collection of inservice data and their statistical processing Support the development of the System RAMS tool Knowledge of the Navigation domain would be an asset. Additional tasks might include Contribute to establishing project specific programmatic and technical dependability and safety requirements within the framework of the ESA Product Assurance Safety baseline Support to projects in the evaluation and monitoring of Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the dependability and safety programs Support to the concurrent design facility CDF studies by performing technical risk assessment and relevant dependability and safety analyses Evaluation of dependability and safety analyses, technical notes, technical risk assessments, risk reduction processes and the associated preventive or corrective actions Defining and controlling the implementation of the applicable dependability and safety related acceptance requirements including risk acceptance criteria Support dependability and safety verification activities, including hazard closeout and disposition of related NCR, RFW and Critical Items Participating in project reviews to assess compliance with the applicable RAMS requirements and to formulate acceptreject recommendations. REQUIREMENTS Master degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with at least 4 years of suitable experience Relevant experience of application of RAMS engineering to space programs, including in ground andor ground based systems and operations Experience in design and engineering of safety critical systems A handson knowledge of the RAMS analyses and methodologies Hardware and Software, preparation of relevant RAMS documentation during the overall project lifecycle and application of ECSS dependability and safety standards Experience in dependability and safety engineering management processes and objectives and experience during operations is an advantage Experience in the field of ground safety and projects assistance in obtaining the relevant launch centre safety certification is an advantage Knowledge of RTCADO178C Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification and related certification schemes, and experience in interfacing certification authorities is considered an asset Knowledge of EU Safety Directive as Directive 9837EC Machinery, Directive 9992EC Risk from Explosive Atmospheres, Directive 9723EC Pressure Equipment and other safety directives relevant for space is considered an asset Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate RAMS tools is an advantage Fluent in the English language spoken and written.
