The Space Science Center at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a fulltime position as Space Systems Engineer Software Engineer. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2020. RESPONSIBILITIES The Space Science Centers 21m antenna is currently undergoing an upgrade to become an affiliated node on the NASAJPL Deep Space Network. MSU will be the fourth node on the network the other three are in California, Australia, and Spain, and are all NASA owned assets. This has resulted in an annual operating contract to perform ground operations for NASA missions, including 34 positions for Ground Station Engineer Operators, a Ground Station ManagerScheduler, and a Space Systems Engineer Software Engineer. This is a unique position which requires specialized knowledge of ground data systems, spacecraft communications, and programming embedded systems. QUALIFICATIONS B.S. in Astronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Space Science, Space Systems, Computer Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Computer programming skills in C andor C along with an understanding of Unix OS. Experience in embedded software architecture development and deployment is essential. The ability to write technical documentation coherently is a must. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of control systems, experience in satellite or similar embedded systems development or satellite mission support, familiarity with NASAs cFS, knowledge of version control with git, SVN, or similar repositories, experience in developing embedded through higherlevel software applications from interface control documents, selfstarter who can work with a small, internal and external, multidisciplinary team, experience troubleshooting systems with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, ability to document progress in engineering memorandums and reviews, ability to work with protocol drivers to develop data structures, experience working with UART, SPI, and I2C protocols knowledge of CCSDS standards SPONSORSHIP This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
