Navigation Systems Engineer

Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled Radio Navigation Engineer who will work for ESTEC, in the Netherlands. SPECIFIC TASKS Mainly working on GALILEO Ground Segment processing facilities, in a role supporting the GALILEO Ground Mission Segment GMS team. In particular, the detailed specific tasks include Followup of the procurement actions related to the implementation of a set of GMS Elements, being the Technical Officer for elements including support to the monitoring of industrial contracts for the developments and generating and reviewing relevant documentation such technical requirements Participation to GMS related Integration, Verification and Qualification IVQ activities, such as test cases definition and preparation, formal tests witnessing, Verification Credit collection at Element and Segment level, anomalies followup at Element, Segment and System level Evaluation of GMS design, with a specific focus on GMS Operations and Operability Improvements, Galileo Services provision, Online and Offline Monitoring, System Reporting, Mission Support and Mission Processing, and evolutions of the GMS architecture and design e.g. virtualisation, data centric processing, etc. Support to GMS engineering activities, as well as Galileo System level engineering activities, such as requirement engineering, change management and baseline evolutions DCPsDCNs, assessment of contractors RFDsRFWs Contribution to GMS and System reviews. REQUIREMENTS University degree MSc minimum in telecommunications and signal processing or electronic engineering, as well as experience in these fields. Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment. Strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, signal processing techniques and GNSS security and processing facilities. Knowledge on virtualization and data centric processing is an asset. The specialist shall in particular have several years of experience relevant with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment and have good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation and testing systems. Specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration. GNC Engineer

SPECIFIC TASKS The principal tasks and responsibilities will include Support to the ESTEC GNC Section for the development of GNC systems for interplanetary and exploration spacecraft as well as GNC for space transportation systems. This comprises GNC for interplanetary cruise, aero assistance, rendezvous and docking, formation flying, or dragfree systems as well as GNC for ascent and reentry vehicles. Specific tasks address the multi disciplinaryphysics and highfidelity End to End vehicle dynamics modelling with implementation in 6DoF simulation environments Matlab, Simulink, DSpace. The candidate must be familiar with classical as well as modern control and filtering techniques. Mastering of advanced multivariable GNC design and verification approaches for the stability and performance robustness analysis is a prerequisite. Daily support and independent expert analyses shall be provided to the development of ongoing and future orbiters and space transportation systems. Specific GNC design tasks shall include detailed dynamics, environment, actuator and sensor system modelling. The post holder shall perform system sizing, requirements capture, architecture conception, advanced GNC design as well as performance and SW validation analyses. Support shall be given to the conception of new highly autonomous systems, the development of realtime optimized guidance systems for launchers and reentry systems and the corresponding verification and validation techniques, including advanced analysis tools to drastically improve the gaps and shortcomings of current validation approaches. The post holder shall provide regular Technical Reporting of the GNC Design and Analysis as well as contribute in the preparation and execution of project and technology studies reviews. REQUIREMENTS Master degree in Aerospace engineering. Proven experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of GNC systems in different project phases Proven knowledge of modern control design methods, commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB Experience with rapidprototyping of hardwareintheloop systems Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
