About The Role The RAL Space, Space Engineering Technology Division is recruiting Space Systems Engineers in order to support a growing number of ongoing and new programmes. This portfolio of programmes covers a wide range of applications Space Instrument Systems, Space Physics, Earth Observation and Space Technology Development and will provide you with opportunities to provide technical leadership of a range of projects involving space hardware at all stages of the space project lifecycle from preproject feasibility studies, through to flight operations. You will be offered longer term professional development opportunities in Systems Engineering specialisations and Technical Programme Management. Duties will include systems engineering input to existing and future space projects conceptual instrument design for future space projects management of design concept during development, preliminary design and detailed design project work planning and executing and reporting of tests investigate further ideas with academic and industrials. About You You will be educated to degree level in Engineering or Physics, those successful for the senior systems engineer will also hold a post graduate degree in Spacecraft Engineering or equivalent. You will have expertise in aerospace or science research projects and experience in scientific instrument development. Those considered for the Senior Systems Engineer position will have experience in all project stages as technical lead. You should also have experience of proposal writing and making recommendations to collaborators. You will have strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate with and influence others. You will be able to work under pressure, set priorities and work autonomously towards a goal. Navigation Systems Engineer

Requirements PhD or MSc in telecommunications and signal processing or electronic engineering, as well as experience in these fields. Specific and Strong knowledge on Satellite Radio Navigation Systems, ranging and positioning techniques and technologies, including latest trends in robust PNT. Specific and Strong knowledge and experience on the design, development and testing of Radio Navigation receivers, including signal processing, positioning algorithms, Radio Frequency, multiantenna and sensor hybridisation aspects. Strong experience at user level with satellite navigation receivers and satellite navigation positioning, integrity algorithms and robust positioning. At least 4 years experience relevant with GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment including receivers and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems. The following competencies would be an asset o Knowledge on EGNOS Overlay System, including the extension to GALILEO support and associated integrity functions o Familiarity with SafetyOfLife systems, with Advanced RAIM ARAIM techniques and with RTKPPP techniques o Familiarity with authentication and encryption techniques that could be relevant to expected GALILEO OSCS evolutions in these domains. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and autonomously. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration. Participation to GALILEO System related Integration, Verification and Qualification IVQ activities to support the definition and preparation of test cases making use of the GALILEO System Verification Tools validation capabilities and to identify, characterise and followup System anomalies.
