Main Responsibilities A diverse range of support tasks in the following position Assistance in preparation of invitation to tenders related to ESA RD. Activities and contracts technical followup. Specific engineering support to space projects developed by ESA andor by major European industriesoperators. Validation of designs by means of analyses, simulations, laboratory testing and field trials possibly in cooperation with third parties. Design, implementation and testing tasks for technological projects. In addition to the generic tasks in the WP overview, the following the Contractor shall carry out the following specific tasks Support the user terminal developments within the Iris project Support ARTES CG activities related to ground segment developments for telecom systems Support the preparation of the section RD technology roadmaps in the area of telecom systems and networks Support the section telecom lab activities The Ideal Candidate The key person should bring o PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognized Institution of secondary studies University, ecol superieure, etc or equivalent. o Min 4 years of a relevant experience. o Knowledge of satellite communication architectures and techniques. o Experience in analysis and design of modern digital communication systems, coding and synchronization issues. o Familiarity with modern communication system and subsystem simulation techniques, as a minimum Matlab and CC program languages. o Knowledge of modern prototyping and testing methodologies for digital communication subsystems is also preferred. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Systems and CDF Engineer in the TECSYE Systems and Concurrent Engineering Section, TECSY Division, TECS Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. The Section provides functional support to ESA projects, performs feasibility studies of potential future space missions using the Concurrent Design facility CDF and carries out technological research RD in the fields of systems and concurrent engineering, as well as developing design models and methodologies. Duties Reporting to the Head of Section and within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities of post holder will include providing expert technical support and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the fields of systems and concurrent engineering throughout all project phases participating in feasibility studies, project reviews and evaluation of procurement proposals identifying project critical development issues problems and assisting in their resolution contributing to the definition of technology development requirements and work plans for the Agencys technology programmes defining, initiating and managing RD activities covering both long and shortterm needs fostering new application areas for multidisciplinary activities, placing emphasis on innovative concepts, cuttingedge technologies and system architectures monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining a stateoftheart expertise supporting the Directorates activities as requested within the Engineers filed of competence contributing to the dissemination of the results of the activities performed and knowledge transfer across the Agency. Knowledge is required of space project lifecycles, including missionsystem conceptual design and tradeoffs, later phases, reviews, requirements flow. Some years experience in one of more of the above fieldsactivities is considered an asset. The role is focused on open source based technologies used for operating systems, database, and software development technologies. Package description Full details on application. Main responsibilities Routinely manage data access services servers operating systems and database applications and relevant aspects related to performance, integrity and security. Contribute to the planning and development of the database layout. Troubleshoot issues. Ensure data consistency, users access management, data security and recoverability, efficient performance. Operations, maintenance and support activities to the data access servers and database integrations with other components such as the underlying cloud infrastructure, and the accessing applications. Execute monitoring and control of the data flows and associated servers and database infrastructure resources to proactively handle capacity, performance and availability issues.
