For our Department of Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems at the Institute of Space Systems in Bremen we wish to recruit for the Development, Simulation, Test, and Verification of Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems for Space Applications one Engineer Embedded Systems, AerospaceSpace Engineering, Mechatronics or similar Your Mission The Institute of Space Systems in Bremen designs and analyzes future spacecraft and space missions launchers, orbital and exploration systems, and satellites, and assesses them with regard to their technical performance and cost. It applies stateoftheart methods of multidisciplinary engineering in system design and analysis for example, a computerized system for concurrent design. The Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems Department focuses on the capability to analyze, design, develop, implement, simulate, test, and verify attitude and orbit control systems AOCS guidance, navigation, and control GNC systems for space applications and their components. This involves a range of disciplines, including requirements management, systems engineering, algorithm development, software implementation, systems analysissimulationverification, and hardwareintheloop testing. The GNC Systems Department is also conducting research and development of promising and strategic technologies for AOCS and GNC systems. The research and development activities of the GNC Appliances Research Group extend to the holistic conception, development, implementation, simulation, testing, and verification of GNC systems for space applications. This also includes system and simulation technology for the entire development cycle of GNC applications, as well as the aspects of high availability and high reliability of systems. The group also operates laboratories and facilities for testing and verifying GNC systems. With its activities, the research group provides integral technologies and key skills for the implementation of highly specialized GNC algorithms and technologies in real applications within the department. Within this context, we are looking for scientific staff members to conduct the following tasks within the GNC Appliances Research Group development, test, and verification of hard and software elements of embedded systems specification, selection, and procurement of components for GNC systems development, implementation, and validation of simulation models and realtime simulation systems characterization and modelling of sensors and actuators conception, development, setup, and operation of measurement, experimental, or simulation setups for GNC systems in all development phases verification and validation of simulations, algorithms, and software integration of components and systems, support of systemlevel AIVAIT processes production, technical review, and auditing of scientific and technical documentation derivation and monitoring of requirements for the development processes documentation, presentation, and publication of results supervision of student internships, project and semester reports, and theses commitment to group activities such as maintenance and development of laboratories, development and improvement of procedures, knowledge management, or acquisition of external funding Your Qualifications successfully completed university degree on masters level or equivalent according to 7 II Tarifvertrag ber die Entgeltordnung des Bundes TV EntgO Bund in the domain of embedded systems, aerospacespace engineering, mechatronics, computer science, electronics, or similar knowledge about usual hard and software architectures of embedded systems and realtime operating systems e.g., RTEMS, QNX, Rodos good programming skills in C, C, and MATLABSimulink as well as good knowledge of the software development process for embedded systems crosscompiling toolchains, debugging, profiling, etc. experiences with modelling and simulation of sensors and actuators as well as with implementation, validation, and execution of realtime simulations e.g. with dSPACE systems fluent in written and spoken English, ideally with work experience abroad conformance with the personal requirements for handling of exportcontrolled goods and information according to German, European and American export control laws willingness to domestic and international travels on official business desired knowledge in generation of CC code for embedded systems out of MATLABSimulink using MATLABSimulink Coder and Embedded Coder experience in development of technical systems for space applications according to spacetypical norms and standards e.g., ECSS is welcome ideally handling and programming of microcontrollers and FPGAs experience in modeling and designing software e.g., with the help of UML as well as incode documentation accompanying development e.g., with Doxygen is desired knowledge in the domain of electrical engineering, analog and digital electronics is preferred practical experience with developing electronic assemblies as well as with measurement technology for electronics development knowledge in the domain of mechanical engineering and the development of draft conceptions for mechanical systems using CAD software e.g., CATIA V5, Inventor is welcome experience with Linux operating systems ideally Ubuntu and version control systems e.g. Git, Subversion is optional practical experience with writing scientific and technical documents with LaTeX is desired scientific publications articles in peerreviewed journals, conference contributions, etc. are welcome supervision of student seminar papers and theses is optional mastery of written and spoken German is an advantage experience and successes with acquisition of external funding is a bonus Your Benefits Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Description Systems Engineer for MIURA 1 launch vehicles and associated tests and future launch operations. Responsibilities Develop and manage system and subsystem requirements, including verification techniques and interface control. Work proactively and collaboratively with the engineering team and customer to identify, track, mitigate, and resolve technicalprogrammatic issues that may arise during program execution. Serve as engineering focal for mission requirements and exchange of technical information between subsystems on launch vehicles and payloads. Assist with the development of design, integration, and test processes, procedures, and configurations for launch vehicles in concert with other engineering disciplines. Provide support for designanalysis results level to technical team and program management. To be part of launch vehicle Simulation analysis and other performance analysis across vehicle functions. To assist with the development of test methods and plans according to defined requirements. To be part of CONOPS upgrade and implementation. To elaborate design documents. Required competences Masters degree in Aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent. 3 years experience with Systems Engineering SW tools 3years experience in high reliability Systems Engineering design and processes 2 years experience with space systems, satellite, launch vehicles, etc. Experience managing technical budgets, requirements, VV, AIT and plan definition Expertise in Computer Aided Design CAD using industry tools such as Siemens NX. Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in technical and programmatic areas Experience with space Launch Vehicle suborbital or orbital Familiarity with hardware test program requirements captured in industry standards including ESA ECSS Standards, SMCS016, NASASTD7001, NASASTD7002 and GSFCSTD7000. Team player able to work with different subsystems Valued competences Experience with mission definition and requirements Experience in environmental testing, thermal vacuum, vibration, electromagnetic compatibility, as well as test methods and validation. Expertise in MatlabPhyton. Understanding of launch vehicle key subsystems and their associated performance parameters. Experience in managing subcontractors.
