Polyester prices are staying firm in China whatever the fall of glycol prices and the current weakness in demand from downward textile industry. Prices could however decline over larger inventory levels in the second part of April. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

Viscose fiber prices have stayed stable in the last seven days in China but could actually decline in the coming weeks over a lack of demand and excess production and inventories. There is however a limit down which will trigger a fall of operating rates. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

Textile fiber prices have remained very firm in the past four weeks on the global market, mostly due to strong raw material costs. Demand was depressed by persistent uncertainties on the textile and apparel markets, partly due to ongoing trade negotiations between China and the United States. Our tables and charts offer a 3-month and 12-month price comparison of most used textile fibers, including cotton, polyester, viscose, wool, acrylic and nylon, all being available for download on a weekly basis through our historical csv file.

Polyester Fiber & Yarn Price Comparison: China vs. India and Pakistan (Monthly Report)

Polyester fiber and spun yarn prices have stayed rather unchanged in China, India and Pakistan in March with gross margins however moving differently from their level a year earlier. The fall of the Pakistani currency has boosted margins at spinning mills whereas the rise of the Indian rupee has weakened yarn producers in India. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.
