Raw material costs of polyester fiber producers are weakening in the current period whatever the rebound of crude oil, naphtha, mixed xylene and paraxylene prices in the past two weeks. Downward textile producers are far from enthusiastic, in addition, although optimism is back in China's economy. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Textile fiber prices have remained very firm in the past four weeks on the global market, mostly due to strong raw material costs. Demand was depressed by persistent uncertainties on the textile and apparel markets, partly due to ongoing trade negotiations between China and the United States. Our tables and charts offer a 3-month and 12-month price comparison of most used textile fibers, including cotton, polyester, viscose, wool, acrylic and nylon, all being available for download on a weekly basis through our historical csv file.

Polyester Fiber & Yarn Price Comparison: China vs. India and Pakistan (Monthly Report)

Polyester fiber and spun yarn prices have stayed rather unchanged in China, India and Pakistan in March with gross margins however moving differently from their level a year earlier. The fall of the Pakistani currency has boosted margins at spinning mills whereas the rise of the Indian rupee has weakened yarn producers in India. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Viscose fiber prices have stayed unchanged in the last seven days in China, also staying frozen in Pakistan which is increasingly dependent on its imports of Chinese VSF. China's viscose exports to Pakistan but also to Indonesia have surged since 2013, as reflected by our below available 5-year data. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available.
