Raw material costs of polyester producers have remained firm in the past seven days, due to tight supply in India. New PTA capacities will however be launched in the coming period in China, which could result in lower prices. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Gross margins of cotton yarn producers have sharply increased in Pakistan in May thanks to strong sales and a consecutive rise of prices at spinning mills. By contrast, margins of yarn producers have heavily fallen in India after cotton fiber prices have sharply increased. May prospects are radically different, however. Our monthly report compares cotton fiber and yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, offering a comprehensive view of the yarn/fiber spreads in the three countries. These gross margins of domestic spinners are displayed on a monthly basis with 10-year historical data available for download.

Viscose fiber prices have slightly declined in the past days in China, over a weakness in demand. Raw material costs have however dropped this week, for the first time in months. In Pakistan by contrast, viscose prices have risen over strong textile exports from the country. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

With PTA prices far from sliding, margins have sharply decreased at fiber plants in China.
