Fastweb inks deal to access Open Fiber FTTH network in 80 cities and digital divide areas

(Telecompaper) Fastweb has announced an agreement with wholesale-only operator Open Fiber to use the latter's FTTH networks in areas not covered by its own infrastructure. Under the terms of the deal Fastweb will be able to access Open Fiber's network in the 80 major Italian cities it doesn't yet reach, as well as in so-called 'white' digital divide areas throughout the country. Open Fiber, meanwhile, will be able to tap into Fastweb's own fibre infrastructure where needed to continue rolling out its own wholesale network.

Polyester fiber prices are now falling over a weakness in demand, and although PTA prices have been kept unchanged. MEG prices are however further plunging, therefore offering room for lower polyester prices. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Asian Contract Prices (ACPs) are also available for the PX, PTA and MEG markets in Asia, with 5-year charts and downloadable historical data.

Viscose staple fiber prices have stayed unchanged in the past seven days in China over a lack of demand from downward processors. In Pakistan by contrast, VSF prices have nearly risen 2% in a single week, reflecting strong sales of spun yarns in the current period. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

Polyester filament prices have heavily fallen in the past seven days in China, reflecting a weaker seasonal demand than usual from filament fabric producers. PSF prices have more resisted however, also confronted with a poor demand level from spinners. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.
