Communications Technician Represented

The Communications Technician will communicate directly with customers and uplink operators. The technician will measure RF carriers and perform satellite carrier accesses at the SES Payload Management Operations Center PMOC in accordance with established access procedures. The technician will also document events and activities and troubleshoot satellite service anomalies. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Analyze RF anomalies and troubleshoot issues to resolution using logical methods Operate test equipment and computersoftware applications to complete support tasks Perform technical testing and evaluations RF, EIRP, CN, etc.ommunicate professionally with customers via telephone and email Support customer requests satellite accesses, trouble resolution, etc. Document activities and events clearly and concisely Protect SES spacecraft and satellite bandwidth COMPETENCIES Knowledge and understanding of signal flow and RF theory Capable of problem solving and able to resolve difficult or complicated challenges Able to make timely, informed decisions in a fastpaced environment, that take into account facts, goals, constraints, and risks QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Minimum 2 years of satellite communications and customer service experience, or equivalent technical training satellite, RF engineering Demonstrated ability to operate an RF spectrum analyzer Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as jobschedule requires Ability to prioritize tasks, isolate problems and return services back to normal operation quickly Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States DESIRED Associates degree Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint WHATS IN IT FOR YOU? Contribute to specification and update of network systems, services and solutions roadmap and strategy Contribute to procurement of network systems and services provide equipment specification and costs estimation, provide service specification, compile detailed equipment lists, perform evaluation and comparison of offers on service andor equipment, contribute to supplier negotiations. Contribute to procurement documentation, e.g. requirements specifications and statements of work. Key tasks have been identified as follows Contribute to the migration to a replacement WAN link between EUM HQ and the various off site locations Contribute to the migration of existing operational programspecific and shared facilities from their current legacy networks to the consolidated network infrastructure at EUM HQ Upgrade the EUMETSAT networks in remote sites, incl. MadridE, LongyearbyenSvalbardN, FucinoI as well as the WAN links connecting the remote sites to the EUM HQ Contribute to the development and deployment of network solutions for the future satellite programs ground infrastructure Develop an understanding of the existing network monitoring and reporting capabilities, with a view to establishing a roadmap for the implementation of more developed realtime performance monitoring and reporting solution Successful Candidate Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring Experience of network engineering in such environments throughout its lifecycle, from identification of needs to deployment and operations. Experience of carrying out specifying, preparing, planning and executing network engineering activities, including their coordination and technical guidance, working with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customersusers and other stakeholders. Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology and solutions for these environments. Ability to present verbally and in writing network solutions and systems in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to explain relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects. Ability to translate IT jargon into customer business terms. Experience of working in and applying the above skills in highavailability, alwayson production environments, driven by high availability requirements. Experience of interacting with suppliers of network products and service providers as part of network infrastructure, services and solutions development and deployment. Experience of configuring and operating network management and monitoring systems such as Netbrain or SolarWinds. Ability to automate network routine monitoring and maintenance tasks.
