We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Datahandling Operations and Overall Ground Segment Verification Engineer mf Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations CentreESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. This position, generally referred to as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE, is responsible for the support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Team FCT during the operational phases, including special operations, and will also participate in test campaigns. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Act as Expert Operations Engineer in the DataHandling subssystem and in the Overall Ground Segmend Verification areas, during Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP, Commissioning and Routine phases. Validation, test and operation of the Simulator and of the Mission Control System MCS including the OnBoard Software Maintenance OBSM and Mission Planning System. Generation, validation and maintenance of the Flight Operations Plan FOP. Support to test and operate the Network Data Interface Unit NDIU. Support for Flight Operations System FOS procurement, integration and tests. Review of satellite documents. Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP support Responsible for DataHandling subsystem. Commissioning support Responsible for DataHandling subsystem. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have as a minimum a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 3 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. The following qualifications and experience are required Demonstrate experience with ground segment integration and validation, especially in the frame of mission planning and data distribution. Spacecraft Flight Operations knowledge including FDIR, in particular for the Data Handling units TC Decoder, TM encoder, Processor Module, PFPL Bus. Demonstrated experience in the operations or OPRSPREP of Onboard computers based on the ERC32 processor and the 1553 MILBUS PFPL Bus architecture is essential. Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000, including data dissemination subsystems like EDDS and Mission Utility Support Tools MUST. Expertise on Packet Utilisation Standard, ideally the AS250 implementation. Experience in working in an operational environment. Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. Experience with anomaly investigations. Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP, special Operations LEOP, deorbiting campaign and routine operations. The ability to work independently with little supervision. Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel. Capable to coordinate and Interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat. Familiarity with Earth Observations missions, in particular with Copernicus Sentinels. Familiarity with TeleMetry and TeleCommand TMTC databases, preferably SCOS2000 compatible. Familiarity with multisatellite missions. Experience in ground tests preparation and execution, e.g. Satellite Validation Test. Experience with ground segment integration and validation. Experience in validation and verification of Network Distribution and Interface Units or similar Electronical Ground Segment Equipment EGSE. The following experience is desirable Familiarity with MUST. Familiarity with ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS. The position is located on site at ESOC and will involve short European travels. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Lead and coordinate the IVV activities related to the data processing chain, including Production of test data sets using system tools Risk analyses and implementation mitigation actions related to the allocated responsibility areas Production of the Test Specifications related to the data processing chain Leading the test execution Analyse the test results in coordination with the relevant experts Contribute to the Test Readiness Review, Test Review Board and Anomaly Review Maintain the traceability and provide verification records, as part of the requirements verification control activity Provide a clear overview of the required integration, verification and validation needs of the data processing chain, following familiarisation with instrument performance, data processing and dataset Support the consolidation of the system requirements verification plans with focus to the data processing chain, including the definition of the test cases and scenarios as well as relevant testing tools Support to the procurement activities for aspects related to the data processing chain Support the assessment of readiness for the launch and commissioning of the satellites and of the entire system As part of the preparation for operations, support the System Validation Tests and Operational Scenario Validation for the data processing chain. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. engineering. At least 5 years of experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV activities for Earth Observation Systems Satellite and Ground Proven experience in data processing systems development including testing preparation and execution and use of simulators or tools to generate test data Proven experience in the analysis reporting of test results run on the data processing chain versus associated requirements Proven experience in data processing aspects for Earth observation remote sensing satellite systems Proven experience in project management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams.
