Verification and Validation Support Engineer for ICT 1513117 Job Description We are looking for a Verification and Validation Support Engineer for ICT to support our client EUMETSAT. You will be part of a matrix arrangement providing support to the other ICT Teams. The primary task will be to lead and implement verification and validation activities. As the Verification and Validation engineer is involved in many major projects in different teams, it is also expected to support the improvement of ICT processes and EUMETSAT business processes. It is foreseen, that the detailed key tasks will include as a minimum 1. Plan and implement verification and validation activities within ICT main task Plan and specify test approach Produce the necessary test documentation e.g. test plans, test scopes, user, system, integration test specifications, test cases, test procedures, test reports, test logs ... Implement test plans, including manual and automatic execution of test cases, test scripts and test tools as well as adhoc and break destroy testing Automate, run and execute performance tests Automate, run and execute regression tests Record and followup anomalies found during testing Identify enhancement and improvements opportunities Participate and provide input to TRRs TRBs Create and maintain system requirements and system verification matrixes Beyond verification through Test activities as covered above, plan and implement further verification activities through Analysis, ReviewofDesign andor Inspection. 2. Technical document review Review documentation from verification and validation point of view, especially User Requirements, Specifications and System Requirements Specifications 3. Support Working Practices Contribute to project planning and reporting Review Engineering Change Proposals and Change Requests from verification and validation point of view Support the improvement of Business Processes and review Business Process Documentation from a verification and validation point of view Support team leaders in the improvement and standardization of working practices, e.g. project management or application development related working practices within ICT Improve the verification and validation related working practices within ICT Coach software and system engineers in verification and validation processes. Required Skills and Experience In addition to having a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, you shall have At least 5 years professional verification and validation experience in a Microsoft Windows environment Extensive professional software testing experience of bespoke web applications Professional software testing experience of Oracle WebCenter Content 11g implementations and customisations Knowledge of verification and validation related standards Professional experience in writing verification validation documentation Experience in a structured, ISO 9001 certified environment Knowledge of PRINCE2 and ITIL especially change and configuration management. Desirable Skills and Experience In addition to the above requirements, experience knowledge in the following areas shall be considered a distinct advantage Experience in testing COTS Commercial of the Shelf application implementations and customizations Experience in configuring, programming and using automated test tools, including automated performance test tools Knowledge of Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, JConsole Knowledge of SQL and Java Knowledge of Bugzilla and JIRA Knowledge of virtualization systems and their use in verification and validation processes Experience in writing technical documentation using MS Office. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Test Support Section, within the ESTEC Test Centre Division. The Section provides functional support to ESA projects and related development activities. The main tasks and responsibilities of the incumbent will include preparing the requirements related to satellite AIV ensuring the definition and implementation of a satellite AIV programme which meets project technical and programmatic requirements, having regard to model philosophy, planning, costing, risk assessment and test execution monitoring systemlevel integration and test activities participating in Test Readiness Reviews TRR and PostTest Reviews PTR as the project representative in coordination with those responsible for engineering and Product Assurance PA, participating in Test Review Boards TRB and Nonconformance Review Boards NRB as one of the project representatives, providing daily AIT reports as required supporting launch campaigns, ensuring launch facilities are inspected and verified and are in the required state of readiness for the satellite, monitoring all AITAIV activities up to launch completed in accordance with an agreed launch operations plan these activities may require physical presence for prolonged periods at the launch site in support of the launch campaign manager engineering support, monitoring and control for industrial activities related to the specification, procurement and utilisation of mechanical ground support equipment engineering support for test planning, test procedure development, test execution and test analysis, in particular for mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic testing of satellite systemssubsystems supporting the Test Centre customers through all project phases, taking into account project requirements and performance of facilities participating in formal project reviews and tender evaluation boards, usually on the AIV panel supporting definition studies in the Concurrent Design Facility at ESTEC for the discipline AIVprogrammatics participating in developing new AIV tools, preparing and implementing investments and documenting procedures participating in developing engineering standards in the Sections field of competence contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. In carrying out these duties, the postholder may need to visit frequently satellite developers, equipment and subsystem suppliers, plus other satellite integration and test centres. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in aerospace or mechanical engineering or a related field extensive experience of satellitelevel environmental, performance and functional tests experience of at least one complete satellite test and launch campaign in an AITAIV role experience of satellite verification engineering good knowledge of MGSE and infrastructure good knowledge and practice of standard informatics tools text editors, spreadsheets, etc.. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. Applicants should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
