Tele2 NL gains, Vodafone loses in shrinking Dutch mobile market in 2017

(Telecompaper) The Dutch mobile sector last year again experienced a decline in revenues, down 4.4 percent from 2016, according to Telecompaper's latest Dutch Mobile Operators report. The combined revenue from mobile services at KPN, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Tele2 amounted to EUR 4.5 billion in 2017. Revenues have been steadily declining in recent years, falling 4.0 percent in 2016 and down 3.3 percent in 2015. The drop accelerated in 2017, but has not yet equaled the 7.5 percent fall recorded in 2014.

Nokia, Tele2 to introduce managed IoT services for business customers

(Telecompaper) Nokia has agreed to provide Tele2 business customers with IoT services using the Nokia worldwide IoT network grid (WING). The agreement, signed for five years, will enable Tele2 to rapidly introduce IoT services to enterprise customers in transport, healthcare, smart city and utilities. The company is aiming to launch the new offering in the the third quarter, enabling customers to manage their connectivity needs and assets, such as connected cars or connected freight containers, around the globe. Under the deal, the two companies will also partner on other advanced technologies such as 5G, Narrowband IoT (NBIoT), LTE for machine-to-machine (LTE-M), Sim management and analytics.

Com Hem Q4 EBITDA hit by Tele2 merger fees, discontinues fibre new build plans

(Telecompaper) Com Hem has announced a rise in revenue and addressable footprint in the fourth quarter, but EBITDA slipped partly because of fees in connection with the recently announced plans to merge with Tele2. Boxer lost unique customers, but Com Hem is confident of turning it around. Com Hem has decided not to scale up fibre deployments at new builds beyond its trial area, as its strategy of linking to third party infrastructure is showing success.

Tele2 to acquire Com Hem to form Sweden's second-largest operator

(Telecompaper) Tele2 Group and Com Hem Holding said they are merging to create Sweden's second largest mobile telephony and fixed broadband provider, as Tele2 seeks to focus on the Baltic Sea region after strategic moves elsewhere. Tele2 is absorbing the Swedish cable operator but Com Hem's CEO Anders Nilsson will take over as CEO of the enlarged Tele2 from Allison Kirkby.

Com Hem to merge with Tele2

Tele2 (Stockholm: TEL2 A and TEL2 B) and Com Hem (Stockholm: COMH) have announced that they have agreed on a combination of Tele2 and Com Hem through a statutory merger, creating an integrated connectivity provider.
