The EGNOS Exploitation Standardisation Engineer is integrated within the EGNOS Exploitation Department. Heshe reports to the EGNOS Exploitation Service Engineering Manager. Shehe is responsible for the following tasks Contribute to the design of the EGNOS Services for various market segments aviation, maritime, rail etc., focusing on standardisation activities required at system level and user level Elaborate and maintain the EGNOS standardisation plan, coordinating GSAs activities with those of the European Commission, the European Space Agency and the EGNOS Service Provider Prepare Statements of Work and Technical Specifications then manage the execution of the GSAs standardisation activities Procurement and Grants Contribute to the establishment of operating concepts with the user community, defining typical equipment applications and operational goals, then develop and maintain the EGNOS user segments requirements incl. 1. Description of the traineeship The European GNSS Agency GSA announces a traineeship opportunity for students and graduates in Europe. The traineeship shall aim principally to aid in supporting the daily operations of the EGNOS Exploitation Department of the Agency. The traineeship shall be based at the GSA headquarters in Prague 7, Janovskeho 4382, Czech Republic and shall last preferably from 1 March 2015 to 30 September 2015. If agreed by the GSA and the selected trainee, two extensions of three months each could be granted, which means that the maximum total duration of the traineeship could be one year however the GSA reserves the right to conclude individual contracts according to which the traineeship commencementend will deviate from the above dates specified. The trainee will be expected to carry out the following duties under supervision Contribute to the understanding of user requirements in using EGNOS for new transport modes Contribute to the definition of technical feasibility studies that assess how user requirements can be implemented and to validation activities that ensure that the service developed meets user requirements Support the team in daily activities, notably for documenting requirements, preparing inputs for meetings with external partners and maintaining coherence between individual activities. 2. The admission and selection criteria The traineeship is open to applicants who have not previously undertaken a traineeship at the GSA and who meet the following requirements A. Admission criteria Nationality of any Member State of the European Union and of Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein parties to the EEA Agreement A recognized higher education degree university education or equivalent, evidencing completion of a full cycle of study, or in the case of trainees who are at the end of their studies, an official attestation from their university or school stating the marks obtained Some initial experience in one of the areas of work of the Agency obtained either through specialization as part of the applicants studies for a university degree, a dissertation or other research project conducted as part of their studies or in some other manner or through professional experience or a previous traineeship Thorough knowledge of English, both spoken and written and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union A clean criminal record. B. Selection criteria Education or work experience in the area of satellite navigation systems or system engineering Knowledge of the principles of system engineering Experience of multicultural environments, ideally through previous work experience or study abroad Good communication skills, including the ability to summarise information A proactive attitude in solving problems Good organisation skills. 3. The conditions of the traineeship The traineeship is awarded by a monthly grant for fulltime traineeship equivalent to 1,000.00 . If the traineeship is parttime, the grant shall be proportionate. Trainees shall be responsible for organizing their own sickness insurance against health risks and their own accident insurance. The rights and obligation of every trainee will be specified in a written contract.
