Description of the job Are you a passionate CATIA designer who has commercial Design Office Drawing Office experience? Are you looking to work on interesting on detailed designs? As an Experienced Design Engineer you will focus on the development of innovative design solutions answering complex challenges in a multifunctional context. You will be joining a Project team of up to 5 people who are part of dept of 70 and MDO Group of 20. We are looking for someone with CATIA experience and we are happy to train you from CATIA CATIA V5 to CATIA V6. Tasks accountabilities Main tasks and responsibilities for this role are Responsible for maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design accommodation including Detailed Design within an engineering group or Project team environment. Providing good engineering design support on bids, studies project work. Liaising with internal external customers in the product groups business units. Liaising with stress, thermal mechanical subsystem groups having a good appreciation of their work. Carrying out DMU design accommodation activities given a detailed toplevel requirement specification with little or no guidance. Responsible for the creation, control, correctness accuracy of all drawings, models, Digital Mock UP DMU, bills of materials engineering change notes as related to the configured items for allocated projects to cost schedule. Ensuring all outputs from the Mechanical Design Office MDO is correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team generally the Mechanical ArchitectResponsible Engineer. All the project DO outputs must be checked, signed stamped by the MDO lead design engineer to the checklists CATIA procedures. Administering the release of drawings, BOMs ECOs related to the allocated project. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills Strong and indepth CATIA experience, we are happy to travel to V6 level Commercial experience in designing structure components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production assembly requirements while highest safety of the Product is assured using appropriate design tools. Description of the job Airbus Defence and Space are looking for a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader within the MDO Mechanical Design Office with particular focus on Propulsion and Thermal Finishes mechanical design. As a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader you will be responsible for a team of 820 CATIA Design Engineers, this includes Daytoday activities to ensure the completion of engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Provide Team Leader support to develop the team to comply with their objectives including timesheets, Personal Development reviews, HR topics, skills training developmental needs. This role will may require European travel on a quarterly cycle. Tasks accountabilities Ensure the completion of detailed engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Process owner and definition of processes for MDO activities within the propulsion and thermal finishes area, principally using CATIA V5 and 3Dexperience V6, in conjunction with related PDM and ERP software and systems including 3DCom, VPM , Delmia, Windchill etc. Define and implement metrics aiming to demonstrate positive trends while working to improve performance and productivity. Ensure a regular reporting toward line management in all domains problem areas, cost expenses, schedule achievements, efficiency improvement, risk mitigation . Ensure the work package commitments within the team are demonstrated through a managed EAC Estimate at Completion. Responsible for the workload headcount balancing over the MTP Mid Term Plan period and for the staff development in line with management directives. Interface with the internal customers and functional entities HR, Finance General team leadership activities including timesheets, Personal Development reviews, HR topics, skills training developmental needs, etc. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills To be successful for this Mechanical Design Office Team Leader role, you need to have the following experience skills Strong background in CATIA Proven experience leading a Design team Any experience of Aerospace or Mechanical design within the space propulsion and thermal finishes disciplines are desirable but NOT essential. The system you will work on will be a critical, integral part of the main structure of the launch vehicle.
