Description of the job Airbus Defence and Space are looking for a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader within the MDO Mechanical Design Office with particular focus on Propulsion and Thermal Finishes mechanical design. As a Mechanical Design Office Team Leader you will be responsible for a team of 820 CATIA Design Engineers, this includes Daytoday activities to ensure the completion of engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Provide Team Leader support to develop the team to comply with their objectives including timesheets, Personal Development reviews, HR topics, skills training developmental needs. This role will may require European travel on a quarterly cycle. Tasks accountabilities Ensure the completion of detailed engineering activities for new and on ongoing projects, bids, studies and RD are on time, on cost and on quality. Process owner and definition of processes for MDO activities within the propulsion and thermal finishes area, principally using CATIA V5 and 3Dexperience V6, in conjunction with related PDM and ERP software and systems including 3DCom, VPM , Delmia, Windchill etc. Define and implement metrics aiming to demonstrate positive trends while working to improve performance and productivity. Ensure a regular reporting toward line management in all domains problem areas, cost expenses, schedule achievements, efficiency improvement, risk mitigation . Ensure the work package commitments within the team are demonstrated through a managed EAC Estimate at Completion. Responsible for the workload headcount balancing over the MTP Mid Term Plan period and for the staff development in line with management directives. Interface with the internal customers and functional entities HR, Finance General team leadership activities including timesheets, Personal Development reviews, HR topics, skills training developmental needs, etc. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills To be successful for this Mechanical Design Office Team Leader role, you need to have the following experience skills Strong background in CATIA Proven experience leading a Design team Any experience of Aerospace or Mechanical design within the space propulsion and thermal finishes disciplines are desirable but NOT essential. As a Mechanical Architect Engineer Lead you will regularly manage the daytoday progress of project team. These teams will be 210 people and will include Thermal and Propulsion Architects and Mechanical Analysts. You will be also working as part of project teams 10200 depending on the project you work on. The Space focused projects you will be working on will have a 45 year life cycle. These projects include working with ESA EO Earth observation and science missions to other planets. As a Mechanical Architect, you will be working with the latest tools, 3DEXPERIENCE, FEMAP, DOORS and inhouse Airbus tools that have been developed to provide a range of exciting technical solutions. Tasks accountabilities Mechanical Architect leads the Mechanical test team and liaises with teams of different disciplines Responsible for the spacecraft structure subsystem throughout its design, build, test and launch Demonstrate verification to requirements throughout the life cycle of the project Robust knowledge of lightweight aerospace structures, tools and materials to deliver structural concept and ultimately design verification Knowledge of dynamic test of structural designs to show it is fit for purpose. Manage Structural Dynamic Analyst and interpret FEM data other tools are considered Broad, and indepth, experience in developing customer internal external relationships An interest in leading a small Project team 210 Responsible for structure subcontractor manufacturer Responsible for mechanical qualification of sub systems including payloads This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills Management of the Satellite Accommodation Structure verification, Mechanical subsystems including structure and mechanism both in house and sub contract. Team management of Thermal and Propulsion Architects plus Dynamic Analyst and Design Office personnel. You will give guidance and support to the Design Office in order to create 3D models, drawings and documents for satellite integration. Preparation evaluation of test plans and reports. Supervision of the mechanical analysis team during satellite level environmental testing, including liaison to customer, launch service provider, test facilities and project management. Schedule and cost control using company software. Organisation of in house and subcontract costs. This role comes with travel typically once a month, mainly European and some worldwide travel. We are looking for a Thermal Mechanical Testing Technician E2 to join our Modis Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. General tasks to be performed Support projects and external customers in the domain of thermal and mechanical experimental verification and environmental testing of small scale space equipment in facilities of the Mechanical Systems Laboratory MSL. Heshe will be involved in all activities related to preparation, execution, and evaluation and reporting under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager. Support the development and the maintenance of the laboratory infrastructure and equipment. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 for operational work and support the definition and maintenance of working maintenance procedures for the laboratory facilities. Make regular progress reports.
